I wondered about this a while back when Alias did a donothon and during one day the amount of subs she gained actually surpassed her total video views on that day. I never found much more than that one instance so I dropped it and just kind of forgot about it. Her CCV was pretty normal and none of her vods got a massive boost in views on that day. It's also possible V4Mirai ran ads for her donothon (although that's a bizarre thing to run ads for) or the number or the total views was wrong as socialblade where I got the stats from is a 3rd party program but it stuck out to me at the time.

Well, it's finally happened. From the minds of those who conceived them, to the artist who made the concept art, to the various Chinese manufacturers who dropped the ball and actually made them, to a warehouse in Canada, to some post office in Canada where they sat for over a month due to a strike, to the US, and finally to my doorstep, my beans have arrived after over a year.
Yes, I bought them all. Yes, I did spend an embarrassing amount of money on them. Yes, that does make me a giant Phasefag.
But they are nice quality for what they are, so I don't really regret it. Got the two keychains there for free with them.

The character assassination shit they tried to pull on her plus all the retarded shit they wanted her to pay for getting out of the company was a massive red flag for me.Honestly, her complaints were so petty and she never gave any evidence/follow up of the only legitimate bad thing she accused them off that I find it easy to dismiss what she said. Plus she gave off a strong money whore vibe after that pity post she made a few months ago threatening to graduate if people didn't give her more money.

Something fishy was going on. That said, ads could be it. Idol also ran ads for the donothons and it proved to work somewhat.
Maybe the money from the subathon can go towards a ring and wedding expenses so the two of them can finally bring this romcom to a close.

1) I've seen ads for donothons before,
2) Donothons are a good time to run ads. The person clicking the ad is guaranteed to come into a livestream, so you can catch viewers who prefer to watch live, and people have added incentives to donate to receive content they normally wouldn't.
If I were a talent doing a donothon I'd be talking to management about running ads as part of the campaign.
