The JP girls still got merch support, management assistance, money for covers, art and so forth. They didn't hit off in popularity, but it wasn't a terrible deal.
I don't think PC abandoned them but they were left to their own devices. Iori was the translator, and I think she's a nice girl but not a good translator in facilitating conversation as it's more then just being bilingual. In contrast, Tenma would be a good translator but hardly did. I think Michi has been happy to make passive income and be in her own zone. Nasa has industry experience and so I think she's a great indicator that PC supported JP, especially now that she has friends like Pico.
An important strength of being in a company is having in built collaborations. I think that greatly helped the gens top stars vs. the JP members who didn't get such a boost. So the comment about them being dead weight is misguided in my mind.
I like how you didn't even click the link to see it's entirely in Japanese.
The Japanese eSport award is a fan-vote held by Jesus (Japan eSport Union)
Speaking of Jesus (I know it is actually JeSu). It was founded in 2018 to issue pro-license to esport players in Japan to circumvent stupid laws that was made from the days of samurai holding uh... tree chopping tournaments.
E.g. under the “Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations” act, the total prize pot for tournaments can only be a maximum of 100,000 yen (USD 651.60).
You have to use... LINE to vote, a japanese social media app mainly used for messaging and calling. Voting started september 1 -> November 15.
The reddit post is actually not final result. Voting still open for another 4 days.
Jesus also pussied out due to backlash from the 2023 vote and they decided to award as many people as possible. Everyone who make the final nomination list will be awarded.
For the eSports Player Category, all nominated individuals will be recognized as awardees.
From all the awardees across all player categories, one individual will be selected as the Most Valuable Player of the Year (MVP), who is deemed to have shone the brightest in that year.
For other categories such as streamers and casters, instead of being nominated, they will be directly recognized as awardees.
The judging committee’s selection process will continue as before, respecting fan voting results while placing emphasis on the achievements and contributions of the players. Furthermore, individuals who have made outstanding contributions in other categories, or have significantly contributed to the eSports industry, will also be considered for awards.

So, this is a great addition to the twitter convo about vtuber "mamas" and how hard it is to be one. Rikotan is pretty direct so it's nice to hear from her.
Edit:
Also, it's great to hear the heart of the industry, vtubers/artists, be optimistic about future growth. I can imagine having reoccurring work for as long as the daughter or son is active provides great job security. I know the flip side is that mamas have quit because all their children retire, additionally having companies keep dead IPs fucks over more then just the talent. Only major talents/artists can keep making money off dead IP, like Ayamy with Mel.
AZKi's final baseball stream before the tournament proper at 7PM JST.
774inc's Kanade Kanon with a reverse totsu at 8PM JST for her birthday alongside two announcements.
She had a countdown stream yesterday which had to be delayed because her baby was crying loudly. Mentioned she's happy to be able to say the reason now.
Millie has a passion for charity work in general and volunteers all the time, it's no secret that she lived quite frugally from the beginning so she could donate her spare income to charity. With that said, that was something that was only really mentioned for a bit after she debuted, the community donations and such became less of a thing over time IIRC (It's been years now and I don't remember the exact stated reason for that change happening tbh). If anything, this just means that she donated a little less than people thought, and probably had to cut back on the charity involvement she did have as her Niji career has stagnated. I wouldn't know, I haven't been a member for almost a year at this point. I'd be willing to bet Niji is one of the lowest paying corpos on the market right now though, if Doki is making that much more before expenses.
What, is this supposed to make you a badass? The original three episodes are a breeze on Ultra-Violence, and no crosshair is the default. Shit, you're even using a source port with full mouselook! It's Chocolate Doom or nothing, buddy.

When one guy makes like 40% of your overall donations you really don't have anything to spare. And he isn't an oil baron either, even ignoring Niji and YT cuts. If he gets bored of her she might as well quit and go back to retail

Look, I get the appeal of playing as vanilla as possible, but vertical mouselook is such a huge QOL improvement that I have a hard time giving that one up - it just feels so much better. As for UV being too easy, what am I supposed to do about that? Play on the next difficulty where the game cheats in an unfun, unsatisfying manner by constantly respawning the monsters? I did add the no mid-level saving/save scumming stipulation to increase the challenge for myself since at least that can still be fun.

Vertical mouselook changes the game too much; it starts to lean into uncanny valley territory (where most modern "boomershooters" land). It just has to be played on the X-axis.
Nightmare is fun, but it's a totally different game. If, however, you're playing Ultimate Doom's fourth episode, or Doom II, then Ultra-Violence is a real challenge.
But to state "no crosshair" outright! As if they should even be mentioned! A slight against Doom, the thought even is!
