Importing this from the Niji L thread
I think the answers with Irys having suffered a lot as a solo debut would be right.
It just reminded me of the infamous country roads cover, they released it for their 6 month anniversary
And none of the girls like that cover, especially Kiara. Kiara later revealed how the production of this thing was a mess and I think it kinda stands as an example of how early HoloEN management operated.
The song was recorded in October, about 1 month after their debut. The girls were not told what the recording was for, for months they were wondering what was going on with that recording. Each of the girls had record singing the entire song. For members who were weaker on their singing, like Ina and Ame, they never got any feedback or requests to re-record parts.
The lyric distribution was done and decided by management, they basically took 5 full recordings and chopped it up, then put autotune over Ames parts instead of asking her to make a 2nd take.
They were never given any direction on what to sound like during the recording or anything else.
When the release drew close and the Girls were told to promote this song at the end of their 6 month anniversary collab, Kiara protested against the release of the song. She doesn't know how the other girls felt about it (probably similar) but she knew that in those six months since the recording, she improved and also had a much better mic at her disposal. She still thinks the one take she was forced to deliver back then is way below her own standards.
Also, comparing the suffering of Myth and Council is difficult because the management was bad for both of them in different ways. When Myth started, HoloEN staff was a skeleton crew with 2 managers and 1 production lead (OmegaAlpha has been there since the start iirc).
The two managers they started out with were Jenma and J-chad. J-chad managed Kiara and Calli, but really he only cared about Calli. Apparently J-chad was also very much a
-type, who only pushed Calli and left Kiara in the dust because she was the runt of the Gen.
Remember that Kiara lived in Japan back then, but the apartment she lived in during debut time was absolute trash to stream in (shitty internet she could only stream late JP hours when nobody else in the building was using the net, loud neighbors, echoy) and in her 1st week she already decided to change and go apartment hunting again. During that time and after, until she found and moved into a better place, she streamed from Jenmas private home (not the Cover offices) and Jenma wasn't even Kiaras manager back then.
Well just a few weeks later, Kiara did officially change to Jenma, and then Jenma was the manager for Kiara, Ina, Ame and Gura at the same time. Henma wasn't hired until months later and took Ame off her workload.
So back then, in a way the Myth girls were a bit more free to do what they want because management was completely unprepared for them and dint have any real rules and they had no-one to really look up to and ask for help or to ask simple questions like, "how do I do this and that in OBS?". Ame was the go-to for that, Ina made them a Pre-debut announcement illustration and I am not even sure we would have gotten that if it weren't for her. Calli jumped in a did stingers for and a loading screen for Kiara, as well as the MV for Kiaras first song.
Basically, Myth really had no-one else to rely on except for each other. And that's where I believe the special feel of unity in Myth comes from. They sailed those rough seas together, and experiencing hardship together makes for very close bonds. I am being serious when I say that what they have together is similar to being Army bros or veterans.
With the onboarding of Irys and Council came also a bunch of new management. The girls were not left to their own devices, rather in the contrary they were suddenly drowned in a bunch of new rules.
I would also like to point out that back when Irys debuted Solo, she should have a 1 month long collab ban like any other Gen debuting. It was only thanks to Myth pressuring management that they reduced her collab ban down to 2 weeks. Just imagine, being not allowed to collab for 1 month but also having no Genmates to fall back on. Absolutely retarded.
Project:Hope did feel like Omegas Pet project where he did call all the shots so when he eventually was outed Irys was just kinda dropped and left in limbo.
To leave on a positive note: Jenma has been rewarded for all her hard work in the early days and is now Head of EN management while still being Kiaras personal manager (part-time). Currently, Kiara is helping to on-board PonMa, a new manager. That seems to be a new process, where experienced managers get to take care of new talents while experienced and older talents, who know how things work, help to train the new managers. And that system makes complete sense imo.
