I feel pretty comfortable calling this a fairly big Cover L. Ina was clearly pissed off enough about it that she pointed the finger directly at the company in her tweet, and addressed Ina business more directly on her Nagu account than I've ever seen her do. I'm pretty sure that aside from all the collabs she's gonna have to miss, she was working hard on her own 3d live and who knows how many other appearances in other talents' lives - even possibly something like the next hoshimatic project isn't outside the realm of possibility.
Now she has to fly back home on short notice and stay there for however long getting the Visa shit sorted out takes. I wouldn't be surprised if this results in a significant delay to her 3d live, and she'll have to drop out of any 3d live collabs that aren't far enough out to account for what could very well be a multi-week/month delay. All because Cover messed up some part of her Visa documentation or something like that.
Is this on the level of the various Niji nonsense or is Ina in any danger of leaving? Obviously not, but I think calling Cover out on a serious fuck up is warranted.
I like Ina but have never followed her directly or been a takodachi, but I can't ever remember her annoyed-posting like that, especially directing it right at the company so explicitly. And then to make that post with her Nagu account, acknowledging it in a way, is truly unheard of. She's always seemed to very purposefully keep them separated. It was pretty surprising. I'm guessing she was just annoyed and probably even moreso that she couldn't communicate it more directly, but still uncharted territory for her from what I can remember.
So I want to change the topic from vagueposting and other usual posting for a minute to make a serious question. Have you guys ever dropped an oshi or stopped watching them not because they graduated but because they changed their streams, content, or just because things that seemed fun or liked about them at first turned annoying after? or because you lost interest?
Edit: I guess I'd like to also add, did you stop them watching permanently or returned later? or watch them but less frequently? Also just to be clearer by oshi I mean like a Vtuber you really respected or watched a lot, like one of if not your favourite
I've had multiple like that. I can't remember any that have made me completely stop watching them due to it, but it has caused me to go from watching every stream to just every-so-often and drop my membership (since I'm not watching them much anymore). I guess I tend to jump around, so partially on me. To me they are entertainers and I'm not going to hate-watch one just out of some sense of parasocial dedication. If something annoys me I'll move on for a while and come back later if they pique my interest again.
Off the top of my head:
Zeta - When she debuted she was like a combo of Mumei and Fauna, two of my favs at the time. But when she debuted and for the first couple months she didn't really swear or anything, then suddenly she just started dropping f-bombs pretty frequently among other stuff. I don't really care if vtubers do that or hold it against them, but it's not for me. I don't really talk like that myself and have younger kids around and don't want to have to be constantly be worried about them picking up crap from stuff I'm watching. (I guess they are older now so I'm not as worried, but there are so many choices in HoloEN now that I never really went back to watching her.)
Fauna - Still love her, but she went on an Agent 47 arc that I just frankly got sick of and kind of stopped watching her because it felt like it was every stream, and just never really got back to as regular of a watcher of her as I used to. Couple that with the "bald" stuff that is now constantly beaten to death by saplings as well as a result of that arc, and it annoys me still.
Biboo - Again nothing against her, but as I said I have wife and kids with activities etc, so life is kind of busy, and when she started doing 8+ hr endurance streams and stuff I gave up trying to keep up with her as I don't have that kind of time to dedicate to a single oshi. Still watch her from time to time, but fell off from an every stream watcher pretty quickly when she started doing those I think with Elden Ring and some other games.
Gura - She's my oshi and what got me into vtubing, but for some reason I only seem to watch her once a month or less it seems. Can't figure out why...
Selen/Doki 2x - Hate to say it, but the laugh/giggle filtered me twice. I watched Selen for a week or so back in the day because I was into and playing Apex at the time and of course she was probably the biggest vtuber who played then, at least that I knew of. But I just couldn't take the constant giggles she has. Tried again when all the Niji/Doki drama happened to give her another shot and to keep up with the drama, but after a few weeks again the giggles started grating on me and things settled down anyway.
