So, inspired by Nene's etymological rant about vtuber lingo, I want to present how Nijisanji is "changing" in real time. Spoiler - they are just chasing money.
ROFMAO hype video for their concert -
EN sub. The oldest member debuted in 2020 so most are OG's.
VOLTACTION hype video ala the hoshimatic project. They are from 2022 and being sold as a package vs. the piecemeal arrangement of ROFMAO as friends
Main differences are the group composition as ROFMAO got popular doing skits/ collabs vs. a boy band type generation. ROFMAO keeps the chaotic hype energy of
"passion dancing" vs. Korean boy band work (
PLAVE exists and has better tracking). The Nijisanji anthem after my embedded link shows
everyone just vibing and that's how Nijisanji used to exist. It's endearing in it's own right. The other "boy band" is Chronoir but that is just Kuzuha and Kanae fucking around.
I continue to be surprised about EN AR concert being cancelled as it's a pivot point for the beginning of the EN branch being fucked. Overall, Nijisanji is the same marketing wise but it's being revealed they are a company that prioritizes short term gains so out go the annoying livers and in come the new blood tasked with hoovering money instead of building strong IP. Most companies do the same but Niji's early marketing about being an "every man" facilitator where anyone can become a liver doesn't match the current product in a sour way. For example, weird fetish livers that keep it Marine level are still there. E.g. Kenmochi and the SKB unit vs. over the top people like Gundou and Utako leaving. VTA exists but the graduates are pretty mainstream or niche streamers. The only place that freaks still debut is NijiEN.
Said head freak. Granted Meloco and Kotoka were pretty edgy after debut and then settled down but no one is on Twistys level.
