It's not terribly uncommon among arthropods. Some spiders do it, ants, some bees and some wasps do it, some shrimps do it (social shrimps living in sponges), some aphids do it, some beetles and shield bugs do it.
I know of no instances where moths or butterflies do it, though. Juniper is likely to be a terrible mother just by virtue of her genus.
I mean they just leave their young in the wild so it pretty much is the Crux of it
I do like that one blue butterfly who scams a fucking ant colony into thinking it's one of them then proceeds to eat the whole larval colony of said colony
I do not know a whole lot of things about Luna moths tho I just think they are fluffy
Luna moths irl don't even live long enough to see their eggs hatch for the species 90% of their life is as a caterpillar when they become moths they only live for about 2 weeks they don't have mouths so they just starve to death the entire stage is only for reproduction kinda wild really
