If Kelsey has even faint dreams of appearing again in an idol context, it would make sense that she wouldn't voice an opinion about a scandal like this. But if that's true, it makes her a hypocrite, she'll only shut up and not talk about a problem if she might get something out of it. It's why it's better to not have any political opinion at all.

I can't really fault non-Americans for that tbh, at least over there shit happens (for better or for worse) plus whatever happens in the US tends to affect other nations to some degree, whereas Japanese politics are usually a long slog of things slowly going to shit. It doesn't help that imported news is almost exclusively sourced from either biased sources (CNN, MSNBC, etc) or "unbiased" sources (Reuters, Axios, etc) and are thus sensationalized to the point where the US is failing as a nation almost every damn week. For terminal political seethers like Clara, US politics provide a sort of circus of rage that distracts them from the more depressing reality at home.

Actually, I knew someone closely who was pretty much exactly like Clara’s posts imply she is in every way, down to the “I used to be far-right.” A very long-time friend who broke contact completely at the drop of a hat because I had a centrist/slightly right position on something. They prior fell in with an online crowd, had a remote job, and lost their sense of reason and normalcy. They bought as many guns as they could and moved to the wilderness to prepare to be hunted down by “fascists.” And that was the last I heard.

I don’t think she’s ever going to crash Phase unless some schizo manages to light a powder keg fuse while underwater, but it’s still very tragic to see. I imagine she’s very detached from it all in Japan, too, because of how far from home it is, and how if she ever went outside in her own country, she would see how it’s just as “bad” in many ways.

Yeah, they’re just miserable all the time, because it gives them a sense of doing something right, perhaps? It’s soul-draining to talk to these people if you actually care about them and puts you in a similar, terrible mental state.

Also: saw the other Canada thing. It matters because it sucks that we’re supporting a company where a talent is encouraging death threats if Canada became a state, but I’ve never really been a believer in personal or organized boycotts. They’re cringe. Organic boycotts are the only ones that work.
