It never fails to confuse me that Rad-Fem types like her spend all of their time bitching and moaning about men but the moment one puts on a dress and wig suddenly he's apart of the sisterhood and not a dangerous predator
See, that's the thing. A fair few of them
don't (the dreaded TERF). And
a lot are browbeaten and prefer not to air their actual opinions on the matter for (legitimate) fears of ending their career and/or violence.
It's a bit of an oddity that something that amounts to an MRA movement ended up being attached to the liberal cause (and it's something the liberal cause will have to chew on for a bunch of election cycles), but that's something for future politologists to pick apart.
One interesting case I found was the German feminist magazine Emma (by noted feminist Alice Schwarzer), which used to be fairly supportive of transsexuals and provided them with a platform for outreach... until Markus Ganserer.
See, the Green party, which Ganserer belonged to, has a 50% women's quota on its party lists (and other functions). Whether one agrees with it or not, the rule's there.
And Markus Ganserer (who at the time, didn't change his name, yet alone underwent surgery) occupied a woman's spot.
Which Emma took exception to.
And
all of a sudden the mainstream center left media, which had previously ignored transsexual everything at a time when Emma gave them a platform, came down on Emma like a rock. It was classic old boy's club defending the lads' behaviour.
Between that and the
transmedicalization mutilation of minors, Emma proceeded to do a hard 180° turn on the matter.
