Has it? I think it's about the same. Holo discussion (that wasn't general industry discussion utilizing Holo as a measuring stick) in the old general was mostly just clip shilling. In fact I find myself discussing Holo more than ever in things unrelated to drama or industry happenings.

Indie discussion and visibility is worse than it's ever been, same for Vshojo and other large twitch streamers.

I do think it's probably a bit early to declare the whole thing a total failure and to revert already. Two weeks is not a long time at all, and probably not enough to fully observe the impact of the split.
But if people aren't really going to use the new threads as intended, you might as well give up.

To find out if there are any actual positives to the split threads, users would have to predominantly use them and only post in the general thread when it doesn't fit any of the others. People right now won't stop using the general thread because they don't believe there are any positives to the split threads. If there were any positives to the split threads, they won't materialize because people are not using them as intended, thus confirming their view that there were no positives to begin with.
It's a vicious cycle.

I still think the split threads could be a good tool for when the general thread becomes too fast for most people to keep up with. Right now it's only too fast for superduper, and I genuinely think he might have a learning disability, because no normal human reads that slowly.

After nearly two weeks of trialling the split threads, I have to say... I think the quality of conversation on here has dipped. Feels more cliquey. Feels like there's less meaningful criticism and pushback in the split threads. Feels like the posts, and the content of the posts, are lower-quality.

The exception to this is the Nijisanji thread, in spite of stricter rules. It's nice to have some pro-Nijisanji content, I think the forum's been missing that. But that thread almost had to exist as a counterbalance to the pit of negativeness that is the Nijisanji L thread.

Maybe people were putting in more effort when non-fans were also reading their posts. Maybe the magic sauce is occasionally calling eachother retards and fags. I'm no good at expressing why it is, it's just the vibes I'm feeling right now.

What is everyone else thinking, though?

Anyone who didn't see that we didn't have enough active users to get an actual Varity of opinions worth arguing with is as deluded as Proctor was when he decided arbitrarily that THIS IS DEFINITLY A GOOD THING.

My stance has been unchanged since he decided to ignore the majority of the forum when he revealed his stupid plan to us. (without consent or even asking for feedback all of which got ignored)

Split is stupid and the "experiment" doesn't have the numbers for any meaningful data and once again Proctard does not and REFUSES TO actually talk to the people who use this forum the people who actually care enough to stick around.

This is why we keep bleeding users maybe we would have enough to people for the split to actually mean something IF YOU ACTUALLY KEPT YOUR WORD FOR ONCE.

Spitballing ideas here, but i think it could be better if the split threads were more like individual "happenings" feeds for each corpo or group.
Where instead of discussion its more about each corpo's news and happenings, good or bad. To maybe incentivize the collating of effortposts and archives in a better way than threadmarks

I generally don't care about having to keep up with multiple threads. I've been posting on forums for decades where that's been the norm, and I actually use the Farms for stuff other than vtubers, so I'm used to keeping track of different threads and sometimes losing interest in some. I was even pro-split for a bit a while back, though I haven't been for a while now.

In this current state, I'm not a fan. I agree that it feels like the quality of the forum as a whole has dropped with this split, and the general feel in the forums feels off. I think @UberSoldat is correct in that the sense of community has died down as a result. Granted, I visit the Phase and Holo threads pretty consistently, although I'm not too active of a poster in the Holo thread since I don't really watch EN and am unable to really add any informational posts about JP because of the language barrier. It also doesn't help that the general thread is just in a weird spot with zero direction. I know some people have tried to use it as a hub for important information, which is great to inform others who visit the thread still, but the discussions usually still lie within its original thread. Some are also still using the thread as normal with sharing streams and clips, which is fine with me, and it's a bit refreshing to see.

As far as the quality of the threads goes, it's hard to say. There's definitely a lot of activity in the Holo and Phase threads. I don't know if I'd say the quality is any worse because of the split, but I do agree with @sbm regarding the Phase thread. I don't think I'd blame it on the split and more that it's kind of the current big topic regarding Phase here, but the majority of the thread definitely feels more like the Clara PL retardation thread, and while I understand the concerns with her and wanting to keep archives of her sperging, the constant discussion really is getting old. I am guilty of contributing a bit to it, but I've backed out of discussing it further until there's proof that there is a tangible effect on Phase. But, I'm starting to go off-topic now...

I still think that having some corpo specific threads can be good, mostly as a place to have discussions on company specific things that would flood general too much like we do with the different event threads. It's also a good place to archive different information and even smaller happenings that might be of interest to have on-hand in the future. Doesn't have to just be big happenings, but also little interesting pieces of info like @Empty_Inbox highlighted with the thread recaps.

So yeah, for the record, I'd prefer if the bulk of our daily postings went back to general. Also, sorry for the essaying.

I really think you should put it to a public vote and end this charade, the forum simply does not have enough people to support split generals anymore and we are only LOSING frequent posters, not gaining them.

Feel free to shake your head in indignation and give whatever excuse you want but if you really wanna get people's respect back and stop being so widely maligned which weighs on your mental then this is the way to go. You have a clear way forward, there is literally no indecision to be had about what to do.

My experience with the skimming of the Holo thread was pre-dedicated thread Fes liveposting and clip compilation posts
The Phase thread turns into the laugh/sperg at Clara/Kelsie or whatever thread everytime she posts something retarded (so all her posts)

Small indies were predictably larger because its what people like but it still feels very dead
Large indies is a really shit thread since its pretty much just Doki or Mint with a Nimi here and there since other larger indie posters just post on the general thread
I found it honestly funny that the VSJ thread has 10 replies total as of this post, and half of those are Vsoyboy

Niji general being turned into Rosemi and friends is a pretty good shitpost though
