VICE's coverage of Kirsche is absolutely actionable defamation, and I'm certain that if it came to it, her fans would be able to crowdfund any and all legal costs she faced immediately. Just something to think about.
I'd prefer her not have to shed her anonymity to defend herself through legal means, but a very public and costly loss on VICE's part would set an excellent precedent in scaring media outlets into doing a better job of vetting their reporters, rather than letting anyone with an axe to grind use their publication as a platform to post libel.
