At least with a boring fanfic/piece of writing online, it's usually one author coming up with a story. No editor, no publisher, or anyone of any skill to pass judgement on a rough draft.

This is a video game made by a developer team of at least a dozen people. People did VA work for this. People did art for this. People wrote for this. Someone must have looked at the writing and said, "This isn't very good." Right? Right? How do you make this "professional" project and make something so shit?
