Don't look at my ratings. They're way off for various reasons (when I watched them, how I viewed the rating system at the time, etc.)

I wanted to rewatch all the stuff and rank them more properly, but I have so much to watch that I haven't seen that that's basically not possible.

(Also, the final episode of School Days really solidified the show. Without it, the whole tone and pacing doesn't make sense.)

That one song in the final episode is great, but everything else about the show just felt aimless and nihilistic to me. It's just a dude with no morals fucking whatever he felt like without any particularly interesting shit happening along the way, all the drama aside from surprise in the bag at the end fell flat because I didn't care for anyone involved.

That one song in the final episode is great, but everything else about the show just felt aimless and nihilistic to me. It's just a dude with no morals fucking whatever he felt like without any particularly interesting shit happening along the way, all the drama aside from surprise in the bag at the end fell flat because I didn't care for anyone involved.

That was the point. It was about the destructive nature of Makoto, and how his actions were destroying himself and those around him without himself realizing it until closer to the end, when it was too late. It having the very dry and empty feeling throughout most the show was very effective, but also its problem, and I can see a lot of people dropping it for that.

Semi-amusingly, if Makoto had broken up with Kotonoha early on and gotten with Sekai once they realized they actually made a good couple, all the shit could've been avoided. But then, of course, no show.

It having the very dry and empty feeling throughout most the show was very effective, but also its problem, and I can see a lot of people dropping it for that.

I get why people would have that takeaway from it, it's just a chore to watch through for 95% of the show, so it's hard to keep people engaged enough for the deconstruction to 'work'.

My hazy memory of watching School Days pretty much is just a sliding scale of "this guy seems alright" to "dumbass" to "how has no one killed this retard" to "merited"
