No Pippa, you should not announce you are going to a convention beforehand, that's how you lure people into looking around for you.
On one hand she's really looking forward to it and would be fun for her to go. The other is family time is important as well and if she does end up going she just announced it to a ton of people that she will be there.
Notice Yancha seems interested in tagging along with her if she does decide to go.
Pretty much my thoughts. If she ends up moving within the next year, this might be the only time in a while that she can spend with her family for the 4th, along with having made sure at least one guy camps the booth over the duration of the con.
