No Pippa, you should not announce you are going to a convention beforehand, that's how you lure people into looking around for you.
On one hand she's really looking forward to it and would be fun for her to go. The other is family time is important as well and if she does end up going she just announced it to a ton of people that she will be there.
Notice Yancha seems interested in tagging along with her if she does decide to go.
