It feels like Omori started a cancerous trend of indie RPGMaker games about young people who need therapy.

The problem the creator made was putting in the incest right away. The winning move would have been to have all the trauma in the beginning and only reveal later that the game is about fucking your hot sister. That'd be a twist no one would have seen coming!

It would've been better to cut the demon/ghost stuff and just have the flashback. I think that the school and visit w/grandparents is enough to get the point across. A lot of it seems like busy work, and I'm left wondering when it'll get back to the present and move on with the story.
