Pippa, those who are happy with the negative changes to a hobby never really cared about the hobby in the first place, because they do not have souls. They do not have appreciation or respect for creative endeavors, nor do they have the drive that causes people with souls to seek out and get attached to their interests.
Bad change happening, most going along with it is a constant. Remember how you say you mostly ignore films made after 2010? That's been every medium since then. Most are fine with the changes because they're fine with anything, so long as they feel good. Resisting, or even questioning, make feel bad, so no resist or question, just go along, feel good.
It is up to those with souls to get into positions where they are the guiding factor in a hobby, or else it will inevitably be destroyed by those with alternate agendas, be it political or financial.
