Well, aside from them getting the California experience of getting their shit stolen, it sounds like this Offkai actually went well for Phase. The concert was so good, and the cosplay thing was a smart move and has been very well-received. And on the very first day, they were already advertising their own upcoming convention for next year. I'm sure they'll still continue to go to Offkai, but obviously, Phase Con is where their biggest stuff will now happen rather than Offkai, so that should be fun to see.
I'm definitely curious how Phase Con will go. They will have to plan a lot of shit out to make it worth being an entire con, but given how many Phase fans go to Offkai, I'm sure getting an audience to go won't be too big of an issue. Definitely looking forward to what they're able to make happen with concerts when they have control over everything. And speaking of concerts, was great us at home were able to watch the Offkai concert without having to wait forever for it to be uploaded or spending a bunch of money on a virtual ticket.
And as for the cosplay thing, was a pretty cool idea they came up with, and it seemed to work out really well. I don't follow or know much about the cosplay scene, so I have no idea if it's normal to have so many women cosplayers call themselves "they/them" and "genderfluid" because there were a large chunk of these Phase cosplayers who label themselves as such, but it's whatever. They all seemed to do a fairly good job cosplaying the talents, and most of them seem to be actual fans of their respective talents, so that was pretty neat to see. Now that we've seen them all, I think I have to say my favorite is Michiru's cosplay. Like I said before, she looks very much like a live-action Michiru without going over-the-top. Honestly looks pretty natural. I also really liked Rie's, Tenma's, Panko's, Ember's, Uruka's, Shiina's, and Pico's. Really fun idea from Phase management for this one.
All-in-all, I know Offkai has had a lot of bullshit in previous years, but this one seemed to go well for Phase (again, aside from the stolen shit), and I'm glad to see that. Sounds like some weird shit went on there and a lot of spergs need to learn to bathe, though, so I'm glad I have zero desire to ever go to these kinds of conventions myself.
Yeah. Overall I was pretty happy to see that it went well - Phase having to be put through any more grief for what seems to be a pretty fun event otherwise would've been really sad to hear about from the sidelines compared to what seemed to be this genuinely good event for their sakes.
Obviously as a Pippa fan I felt a bit lacking from the stream department, but I also get that she was sick during her Japan stay and she wasn't meant to do much for the concert anyway. I hope she'll be able to do more with Phase Con, though - she's been training her voice a lot more and her tapping into her lower register would be great to let her do some actually good singing for once. Somebody needs to make her a classic rock ripoff track so she can sing something she'll really love.
As for the cosplayers, I've been observing the western cosplay community for a while now (since like 2018) and it's definitely full of a lot of mentally-poisoned girls/young women, the kinds who put pronouns in their bios because they used tumblr too much as a kid or otherwise wanted to be able to say they're higher on the oppression spectrum than others. They're mostly harmless though, and they/thems aren't really ever as bad as you'd think they are.
Also, the septum piercings - that one has taken a while for me to understand too since I keep associating it with old-timey bull cartoons and it makes the nose look wider, something I personally don't find attractive, but like most of these piercing things it's a "fad", like gauges were a decade ago or snakebites were 2 decades ago. It'll probably die off in a few more years, but it's definitely just gonna be something you'll "see" among cosplayers since cosplayers ultimately are still nerds at heart and a lot of female nerds tend to like alternative fashion and subcultures, which naturally lend to things like piercings.
