The duty of a simp or potential simp to understand that the cartoon woman on the screen almost certainly already has an IRL BF and is never going to fall for him no matter how much time and money he spends does not go away once the streamer starts acting flirty. "A huge breach of trust?" There shouldn't be any trust here - do not believe anything that the cartoon character on the screen says, no matter how much you like them.
Plus, as Pipkun posted upthread, what is and is not GFE can be subjective and it's very possible that Lumi and other streamers have been consciously doing it for years without outwardly calling it GFE or doing overt kissy ASMR content or the like, but still making choices for their content to appeal to lonely males with money. There is nothing wrong with that.

I think it's super simple. Some of your viewers have a crush on you, no matter who you are or what you do. They will prefer you over others because of this. If you reveal a relationship, some of them won't feel that way anymore and will not prioritize you anymore. If you do GFE you increase (hopefully) the number of these viewers you have. So a relationship reveal will be a bigger loss. If the reveal is related to your community, the damage will be much worse than if it's a pure IRL relationship that's isolated from streams. Most people will understand your right to a private life. But if it's somebody they see in chat, or your manager or anything really, a lot more will have a problem, some even if they didn't have feelings about you.

I'm honestly really happy with these Invaders. Three people that have already proven themselves a) to vibe well with Phase and b) to have good track records as streamers and decent followings of their own. And I'm glad we finally got some Pippa nepohires, too! 
I like Gen 3 well enough, but lately Fishman's hiring decisions were starting to give me an impression that he was consciously trying to give the corpo a bit more of a "mainstream" appeal compared to Pippa's reputation (though sometimes initial appearances did prove deceiving, like with Jelly), so that makes me glad he did let in some of Pippa's friends. And sure, Sleepy and miss Underscore were already collabing with Pippa, but now they're actually in the company, we'll be able to see a lot more of them with the other Phase girls as well.
In that sense, I'm also a little surprised that these three decided to join the company, since they already had decent following as indies and were already collabing with some Phase members, so one could argue they didn't "need" to join Phase. But the fact that they did proves that Phase really does have something going for it as a "brand", even in this age where small corpos are collapsing left and right!

Even outside of female streamers, many male streamers have talked about and complained about how their audience reacts to GF reveals and treats their GF. It doesn't even have to be them having a crush on them, it's them viewing as having any kind of relationship, in any way, either as a friend, or more. They will always think they have a say in the streamer's life or relationships. Ironically, the male streamers who complain about the audience reaction to their girlfriends, usually do have their relationships end up the way many of those audience members say it will. Mainly because streamer on streamer relationships should genuinely be avoided, it always leads to drama.
I don't disagree with the subjectiveness of it, but Lumi has explicitly said she doesn't do GFE anymore, you can look at her old youtube members posts and it is the most blatant GFE ever. Like "I just woke up from staying the night at your place." and a picture of her in a button up shirt. Any female streamer that does GFE, and has a boyfriend, should know it runs the risk of blowing up in your face and having an angry audience. Just like an audience should expect a streamer to have a significant other. I don't feel bad for the girls that appease that kind of audience, having it backfires on them and getting an angry fanbase, I don't feel bad for the audience either.
I honestly don't view GFE all that different from OnlyFan girls, both using different methods to the same issue. One gives emotional pleasure, the other sexual.
We'll have to agree to disagree here I guess. At the end of the day VTubers are, of course, playing characters - obviously Watame isn't really a sheep nor is Pippa actually a rabbit - but what separates a great VTuber from a mediocre one is the ability to authentically connect with their audience despite that. If a cornerstone of a chuubas content is GFE/girlfailing/femcelling/whatever you want to call it but she's actually in a relationship, it'd be like finding out that Kirsche is secretly employed by the DNC or that Suisei doesn't do her own singing - it takes away the authenticity factor. Just look at the Rushia case study: she was doing yandere GFE content (acting jealous of other girls, selling engagement/wedding rings as merch, etc) and made literal millions of dollars off of it - to my knowledge she is still the highest superchat earner in Hololive years after her termination. As Miguel though she's faded into almost complete obscurity. Is she suddenly a less talented entertainer? Of course not. She's been trying to cling to Rushia ever since (I mean look at the model come on), but nothing she does can repair the trust she lost by doing the kind of content she did while being in a relationship and so fans won't ever feel like she's authentic again. Obviously there are other
