It’s been over two years since TVA began. Two years of unmedicated madness, which I’ve been rather content to preside over. In that time, our culture has slowly broadened its horizons; first there was the megathread, then the rec room, then the events thread.
Today I’m announcing the next step. Starting in March, there will be new threads added to the site.
These threads will be as follows;
1 thread each for the following companies; Hololive, Nijisanji and Phase Connect.
1 thread for large indies, aka anyone who consistently trends above 500 CCV.
1 thread for small indies, aka anyone under 500 CCV.
In addition, thread creation will be allowed for new companies and even individual talents. These will be community driven; anyone can make one, subject to moderator approval. Thread OPs should be reasonably comprehensive and detailed; they should essentially be treated as a kind of advertisement. I want to know why I should watch the vtuber you took the time and effort to post about, or why the company you watch is better than the other ones I like.
Now for a bit of Q&A.
Q: Is the general thread going away?
No. The general thread will remain in existence for now. Those of you who prefer that kind of atmosphere are free to keep using it.
Q: Why are you splitting up the forum?
The forum has grown to the point where containing several topics of conversation in one megathread is a nightmare for navigation, and is a bottleneck for conversation. Users have to rely on third-party, user-created tools and XenForo's terrible search system to keep track of conversations and topics they care about, whilst niche interests are also either lost or never talked about. Tribalism is quite apparent to the point of being a detriment to conversations, despite one of the original reasons behind retaining the megathread structure in its prime being to attempt curbing it and exposing people to different viewpoints. It is the unanimous view of the staff, and many other longtime users and lurkers, that the megathread structure has outlived its usefulness. It is time for something new.
Q: Will there be any further changes like this in the future?
Yes, depending strongly on how things progress. If particular threads are extremely popular, they can be expanded more into their own categories.
Q: How will drama & events be handled?
For now anything worth splitting off from one of the main threads will be decided primarily by the users of those threads. The Report function should be used to highlight posts that users feel ought to be moved.
Q: If a talent or corporation has a dedicated thread, does this mean we can ONLY discuss them there?
No. You’re free to bring up other vtubers so long as they’re relevant, and it can be reasonably considered more than just an attempt to go ‘hey just watch that girl instead, only losers watch this one lol’. Collabs can be discussed in any relevant thread, and tweets directed at a talent by another talent can be discussed in either of their threads.
Q: I like [company/vtuber A] and don’t want [company/vtuber B] mentioned in [company/vtuber A]’s thread.
You can politely ask people not to bring them up in your thread, and use the Report function to ask staff to move posts you feel are off-topic to another thread if need be. However, pointless bitching, antagonistic behavior or disruptive whining will not be tolerated.
Q: What are the advantages of splitting up the megathread like this?
Here’s a quick list:
Many other possibilities also open up. Archiving information becomes much easier under a multi-thread system, and it's also much safer to appoint staff with limited powers and responsibilities rather than entrusting them with unilateral authority across the entire forum. Allowing users to put time and effort into new OP's creates a greater sense of investment in the forum, and allows people to focus on the talents they truly love rather than be lost in the crowd of everyone else.
There will be a few new rules added to the forum to account for its new structure. These will be subject to revision as the realities of this adjustment manifest. For now, the only hard and fast rule is as follows:
No Drivebys. Don’t go to threads about companies or talents you don’t watch and start fights. If someone is sticking to their lane and simply posting quietly about their oshi, be nice and leave them in peace.
The first new threads will be created early March, though I will enable thread creation (pending approval) in the Dining Room early, so if anyone would like to create a thread OP for a company or even specific vtuber to kick things off, they're more than welcome to. If it's good enough, I might even make it a template for future OP's to follow.

Here’s a quick list:
- Each thread (and as they grow, forum) can have its own dedicated notices.
- Each community can have their own moderators.
- Each community can keep track of their own events, debuts, graduations, etc.
