The moment Kirsche mentioned making $160K in three weeks off merch, I wanted to hear more too. Metokur's also got to think about financially providing for his wife when he eventually passes away, so I'm sure he'd like to find out how to make even a good fraction of that sort of money. Metokur took the conversation in a direction I think most people were interested in, and I've got no issue with how it went.
Kirsche's payout is obviously an anomaly, and a culmination of a bunch of factors - she's been building an audience for seven years, she had a coalition of left-wing people launching a targeted harassment campaign against her at the exact right time and she has the right sort of audience (male, 18+, predominantly white, right-leaning, culture-war oriented) that could reward her and her sponsors financially. There are very few people that are in an advantageous position like Kirsche's to be able to make the money she made with Gamersupps. And don't be surprised if the hatman gets a Gamersupps sponsorship by his next stream either.

There was a time when these people were Phase's biggest competitor.
That was always just an illusion. Throwing massive amounts of money around at an enormous loss for a very long time was never gonna yield results in the long run. And I'm pretty sure everyone and their mother saw through the conpany "transparency" publicity stunt they were pushing for God knows how long!

You're a little off.
Kirsche's audience are not the same audience as other VTubers. That's precisely WHY she's successful. Kirsche's audience are predominantly single and married men who are in their 25's - 40's. They're almost all post-college grads with jobs. Some are wage slaves (me), some are well adjusted people with a family and kids (several of Kirsche's own moderators).
This audience has WAY more money to throw around than zoomers who are using their mom's credit card to send akasupas to their oshi.
That's why Kirsche can consistently have lower CCVs than Hololive VTubers, but still make #1. Others have numbers, Kirsche has "oil barons" lol
