So far in HoloEN, the cases for graduation have been specific enough to just not warrant it. Fauna being able to return once in a blue moon wouldn't fix what I assume was her getting sick of the byzantinian management bureaucracy, it wouldn't have cured Mumei's health issues, and the last thing Gura wants is now all eyes on her any time she appears as an affiliated guest for an event. Ame didn't want to fully cut ties with Hololive for whatever reason; there was enough to incentivize her to appear every so often.

Ame, it turns out no one ever found out, was deep in the professional Media Production in the USA. The setup she has makes a lot more business sense if you're moving on in life but want to keep a door open for special occasions. Gura and Fauna made the most absolutely sense to fully graduate. Mumei seemed more like a fork in the road situation for her and it's just better to end it rather than let it hang over. Same with Aqua and Shion, but you can see that Chloe went the affiliate status because she found a primary career she wanted to peruse (as well as bring up an Indie Vtuber so she can stream occasionally).

I doubt we'll ever get any information on Gura's discussions with management, but it's hard to probably describe how much they'd have likely done to keep her around. Everyone forgets Ayame exists for 10 months a year. Cover can make situations work.

She's been in school the entire time, I believe also changing countries for graduate school? She then does a complete second life as a streamer. It's not surprising she felt really isolated. She probably wasn't well suited for grad school a long distance from her family. Few actually are, but that's a separate topic.

The more I look at Ame's participation in the concert the more I wonder about people who have chosen to cut all ties.

I can kind of understand just wanting to be out of that part of your life but it doesn't seem that complicated? Seems like Ame just chose to show up this once. It's not like they're dragging her back into every concert or to every big collab. It's not like she's here for Fes. It's more along the lines of a 3rd party guest.

I guess there's something to say for finality but I hope this appearance shows future quitters what the affiliate option actually means.

From our perspective, it was just one small appearance but who knows how much effort is needed from the "affiliated" talent.

Ame appeared as a fully tracked 3D model and even interacted with the other performers. Did she travel all the way to Japan just to record this? Did they rent an external studio in NA just for her? Or did she just use her own home studio? (That would mean that this is something only Ame can do, but I still doubt it since as dooby we can see that her recent tracking in her home studio was extremely scuffed.)

She says in the JP translation that 4 people who were planned for what was originally a Dec live weren't able to be there in the end, there are only 4 missing members of EN from Dec, eg. Fauna, Gura, Mumei, and Bae. So there's a world where this comes out in Dec and would have been EN's last live as a full group before a chain of graduations. Though I think I like it as it is.

I think Kiara has mentioned that Ame was not originally part of the initial plan. After losing the 4 guests due to delay she wanted to make up for it and thus attempted to ask for an Ame appearance which got approved.

I have an under-developed but burgeoning rrat that Ame going the affiliate route didn't just stem from whatever "management disagreements" she may have had but it also can be attributed to the huge change in her living situation (moving back with her family). She's mentioned in her Dooby community that she hasn't been streaming too much due to the situation at home with more people being around and not being conducive to the hours and environment she prefers for streaming:



Couple that issue with the persistent internet/connectivity issues she's been having and it probably became untenable for her at some point to hit her homework quotas and other offline corpo obligations. The opaque part is where the "Affiliate" status idea came from - whether it was her who brought it up or whether it was someone from management who was somewhat aware of her situation and wanted to find a way to not totally close the door on the IP of her person - especially with how instrumental she's been with all the extra work she's done in the background being the unofficial-yet-de facto "IT Department" for Kiara and the other girls in the branch and also making a lot of their patchwork 3D work during the early days of the branch when the girls couldn't travel to Japan yet.

I mean if Holo did meddle with debut dates or do "le queue" like some many smug Nijisisters like to claim then they wouldn't be graduating 3 people on the same fucking week and would've spread out the announcements more. They also wouldn't have had all of the announcements on the half of the year with no new debuts, or had them right before and after fes to ruin the hype.

They obviously discuss the date with the talent alone and don't tell anyone else but I seriously doubt they delay these for more than a month, what does take ages is probably the talent being indecisive over if they actually want to quit and the managers trying to get them to reconsider, but the delay between the "press here to graduate button" moment and actually pulling it off is probably less than a month imo.
