Spread them out, give them stuff to do, give them a chance to show off individually and find a new audience. We'll see what shape it takes in the coming days, I guess.

You're too focused on the preventing yabs aspect of management. Creative freedom does actually mean creative freedom sometimes and not just "I want to say retard shit and be a slut on stream". Many of the most memorable moments in vtuber history come from talent pushing back against management to get something done. Ame having to fight and work behind managements back to get her 3D shit in, all the crazy shit Inchou does without permission or Marine getting her concert after bitching to management about it for months are examples of that. We don't see how many ideas are shot down by management because they don't want to relinquish control, take responsibility for a risk or set a precedent.

Sometimes management is actually wrong. Sometimes the talents ideas really are retarded/illegal. There has to be some way to push back though, or shit will go stagnant.

There's truth in this "corpo is limiting their talents" bit as it has been proven over time especially when they had an image to hold. Like I'm sure a good amount of people still remember that time period when Astel just went on a full apologetic-whilst-sobbing stream because some of his projects were shut down by management thus rendering him from giving his 100% to his viewers and he had to do a whole mental gymnastic to come up with an alternative, or how they decided to canned old man arurandeisu model even though current fans has no problem with it whatsoever.
Being bounded by corpo will give you both good and bad things at once. As the talent itself, they might find themselves stuck in a sticky situation like this which is why fans should be supporting their favorites for what they wanted to be not because the corpo told them to be A or B. Of course a fair exception should be enforced to ensure that no one could easily do a fuck-ups which is why the cry about tarento freedomu often falls short the moment they stopped thinking about putting certain limits.

I'm also not saying kson is devoid of criticism but she has some fair points to be talked about, especially when people are starting to equate VTubing as idol work when the core activity of VTubing itself is just anime people trying to stream

My opinion is basically the same as this:

Most of you guys don't fucking listen to the stream, nor even read the entire translation before jumping to the worst possible interpretation of specific bits that suit your prior image like a /vt/ resident. She's talking about the whole unicorn shitting on PPT for accidentally being near penishavers, and that if people don't speak out against this kind of behavior, the industry will turn to shit.

And to add, the whole corpo stuff can be summarize as "Corpo may have rules, but fan should be on their oshi side instead of pushing for more restriction because it suit their imaginary of the person." Imagine for example, fan pushing back against Marine's Treasure box because she said she went against management. Fan demand talent that doesn't collab with male to stay that way, and get real pissed when that code was broken - Suisei-Roberu for example. It's shit like that that ruin the fun and talent's agency on their work.

"If it go on this way, vtuber will be gone. Your oshi will be gone." because it won't be fun and interesting anymore, Those that got burnout will graduate. Those that remain will be a husk. She isn't said that the current rule is bad, but unicorn schizo fans pushing for more and more restriction of all kind on talents is worrying if not stopped and shamed into the dreg they belong.

• Other than that, I love Polka's Legend of Polka series, even though I gotta catch up on it. Insane that she's been keeping it up for 2 years. Can also never forget that she was the first Holo to skydive.
• This one is older but I'll always love Botan using her birthday to make different kinds of ramen for her genmates.
• Pekora's New Years stream where she "took over the world" by turning a bunch of Holos into her and having a bunch of others do their best peko impression.
• Marine's Showa-inspired live keeping the video quality grainy and the aspect ratio at 4:3. I barely knew a lot of those songs but I still felt a nice sense of nostalgia throughout the whole thing.
• Gura's 3D debut. The whole TV channel theme was pretty cool and the commercials were hilarious.

All of which are corporate.

Of course, creativity, paths seldom travelled exist in the indy sphere, too. That outdoor travelling JP vtuber. Rocket launch vtuber. Voice acting vtuber.

Projects that need corporate resources (concerts) aside, creativity does exist in indy- and corporate spheres alike. It just requires the vtuber in question to be passionate about something that's off the beaten path. If you don't have that, you can still be good, you don't have to innovate to be entertaining, but without that passion, without that niche interest, forget about trying to innovate.

Most streamers when they become huge end up doing react. Fans love to suggest shit and see their reaction. Its also no brain ezpz way to make a stream, you dont have to plan shit just have people donate their clips and just laugh or talk shit.

Honestly, with some streamers, I don't mind react stuff. E.g. Cheese 05. He worked his ass off in Mario 64 for years and years. If he feels like sitting back, relaxing and doing some easy react content using his name recognition for bucks, he has my blessing. No different from post-career sponsorships in sports.

Not until it reaches the mainstream and actually gets discussed on a news station. In regards to current events, Trey and Matt are kinda boomers and don't actively search for shit to make fun of. Only way I see them touching on vtubers is if they want to touch on streamers and then they accidentally discover vtubers during their research and throw that in as a joke. I could see them making a joke about Cartmen pretending to be a female vtuber to fleece people for money.

btw no one cares but the last merch has scrunchies. they are moving up in "cheap to produce merch for maximum profit", at least some variety this time... if the quality is high enough where you can tie your hair without the elastic inside being destroyed after a couple of times it's already at least usable daily and not just going to sit on a shelf. but the cheapo ones usually get so loose so quickly they end up collecting dust
