Hi. Aspiring vtuber here. Twitch sucks. Its content is 75% softcore pornography and/or self-important idiots in their bedrooms with "streamer lights." Their video player always takes at least a solid minute to get a solid video connection and usually requires multiple manual play-pause toggles in the process. The ads are incredibly obnoxious if you don't have a blocker installed. And, yes, its chat culture is basically "spam emotes."
But my Twitch streams typically bring a CCV max of three to five viewers throughout the stream. Doing a full stream where nobody ever shows up is the exception even for an utter newbie like me. On YouTube, however, it was the rule.
Nobody watched my YouTube streams. I can grow from having three viewers. I can't grow from having zero.
I wish it weren't so, but the fact is that it's just easier to grow as a brand new streamer on Twitch than YouTube. If you don't like it, be part of the solution and find some 0-views on YouTube to watch and engage with. You'll find me over on Twitch, though. For now, anyway.
