What is some of your favorite Vtuber merch out there, from any company. I would also count fan-made stuff, sometimes they can be surprisingly good.

I actually considered ordering the Phase voice packs from the valentine's day stuff just as a way to support them, has anyone else bought them that could recommend? Shiina would probably be my first pick but I might get the Erina one too.

Now there's a thought. The reason Cover can't find people for EN 3 and has to pointedly remind everyone that auditions are open is that Kosher Corp offers a better deal and is vacuuming up the top talent with its expansion.

First Vshojo poisons the pond with Talent Freedom! (tm),* making people think that Cover is as restrictive as a straightjacket, then Kosher Corp waves around streaming setup money + full talent input on the outfit, which honestly is a pretty fantastic deal if you look at the issues Flare, Ollie, Anya, Irys, Kronii, Magni and arguably Vesper have had, and now the likes of Rin or Fuyo go to Idol instead of Holo.

We don't know whether Idol's model is sustainable, but as long as they exist it's a fantastic deal, and the views Idol EN gets aren't particularly far off early Niji EN and growing, either.

I don't know if any of the other Phase talents would have interest in something like that, especially since it's a big time commitment. There's also the concern of the format getting overkilled like I alluded to a while ago, when you're asking for money so explicitly there's always going to be a balancing act so I wouldn't be surprised if some talents and/or corpos are letting others test the waters first in case it goes south.

Then there's Panko who can only stream at euro hours for a little bit because of pissy Italian neighbors.

combine that with the sour taste left by Lias incident and I don't think we'll see any similar donothon attempts from phase, maybe they could do a relay or something but idk

I mean I don't know if there's any risk of the donothon/subathon format going anywhere or people getting tired of it, at least on a population scale. Subathons have been a thing for years on Twitch even before vtubers.

• Idol pays for ads during them, which has worked in their favour as you've had people go into Yuko's stream for example, solely because they got ads for them.
• Aviel said the girls get the full amount of the donations and there's no cut taken on them by Idol. So it entices people into throwing money at them.

Fishman will do neither. And as said by others, people probably want to wait a while before the next one after Lia's donothon got soured by 20 minutes of a male on stream, even though it really didn't ruin her following afterwards, she still can't show the ending screen, one month later.

Besides, donothons aren't needed to rake in the cash, just look at Pippa being a sad girl a few weeks ago and the akasupas kept on coming.

I still think Idol are going excessive on donothons though, it'll just burn out people with having to donate all the time, should be spread out more.

This is not true, idolcorp is paying for whatever stuff is in the goals (song cover costs and whatnot), but they are still taking their cut of the donations.

General Question for the thread:

What is some of your favorite Vtuber merch out there, from any company. I would also count fan-made stuff, sometimes they can be surprisingly good.

And conversly, what official vtuber merch is a total flop? And this time I am exlcuding fan-merch because I can forgive some dude on twitter fucking up, but not when the corpo the vtuber belongs to, does.

Best/likes - Personally I like stuff that's either practical or inconspicuous. Coco's Yakuza badge comes to mind as a hidden weeb thing. Fauna's and Vesper's teacups. Mousepads/deskmats. Kiara's oven mitts and slippers, and all of Ina's stuff like her clothes bin and ramen topper are great as well.

Worst - all those fucking acrylic stands. Most people, if they have any room for these, will only buy a select few. Unless they're a giant turbo weeb and have display cases. And even then, that market is so small I can't imagine it's worth it. But I'm going to guess they're super cheap to produce.

Also, clothing that isn't on-demand and isn't a full spectrum of sizes. I remember Gura's first t-shirt as an example. They were all Japanese based sizes, and very few sizes available. And let's face it, even if you consider a healthy fit size, the average American and Euro are significantly bigger than the average Japanese citizen. If you're going to sell clothing, make it on demand creation, and offer the full gamut of sizing.

Gotta be honest with you both, I didn't pay too much attention to the "male on stream" controversy because it felt like a nothingburger to me.
On the ads thingie, Sakana did pay for them when both gens were debuting, many of us saw them.

I know my post may come across as taking a jab at fishman (remember, fishman hate) but it was a geniune question.
