Are you confusing total views with CCV (concurrent viewership)? Because looking at Playboard you can see people like Aster and Aia are averaging around 450 CCV, and Scarle is around 750CCV.

What are you talking about? NijiEN talents absolutely can get over 10,000 viewers though it may not be as common as in HoloEN.
There are very few indies that can muster even the absolute lowest metrics that a NijiEN member can get. Sure, skipping out on going corpo makes sense if you’re someone like Shondo or Nina Saotome but the overwhelming (95%+) majority of vtubers won’t ever crack 100 viewers.
My opposing take; I like Maria from Iluna, but she streams at Aussie prime time. I'm 'murcian and not a NEET so I'm not waking up at 3AM to eat a burger and watch Maria play Valorant when I could watch Reimu or Rosemi play the same game at reasonable US Primetime hours. Niji is just expanding the base to be English audiences, wherever in the world. This same shit happened to Phase too. I like Panko, but I primarily see her streaming after Italians stop cooking meatballs and pizza for the day. Which is during prime wage cage hours here in the USA (real world and real pizza land).
Alternatively, you also don't have to watch every Nijisanji Liver. I don't get this canabalization thing.

To be honest, when I've seen Rin for the first time and heard her call herself "a prince" I was sure she's a female playing a male character. It wasn't until after her collab with Rie that I've realized she plays a tomboy character.
