Pico-8 is pretty interesting in terms of not trying to be a do-it-all game framework and instead putting some hard limitations on what you can do with it and forcing you to work within those. The game that eventually became Celeste was actually first implemented as a Pico-8 game, so it can make "real" games despite those limitations.
That said, if her HTML skills are anything to go by, the spider may have trouble making a game much more involved than this one.
