That's how I've always done it, but you can also grab the url like normal and then add "?t=[time in seconds]" to the end, or if you ever want to get rid of the timestamp you can just remove that bit.
Fun fact, you can also use minutes along with seconds if you just want to add a rough timestamp without seeking in the video. I.e. ?t=3m15s
And also hours, like 12h32m11s.
