If you want the truth, the financial agencies of the U.S. government, like the IRS, FDIC, and SEC, are some of the most competent organizations the federal government has. While slow by normal standards, they are competent and are very good at finding and breaking people violating the law. For the IRS, once an audit is opened up, they WILL find any discrepancy in your taxs and do what ever is necessary to get there money.
