Happy Switch 2 launch week! You can practically feel the hype - in the sense that it's absolutely dead in the water *nothing*, other than price and stock concerns!

Will we get a repeat of the 3DS Ambassador program? Well, we don't have the same leadership at Nintendo as that era, and the less said about the Wii U the better, so it's a toss-up on how they'll fare post-launch!

That being said, with the release of Pokémon Legends Z-A in October, and Gen 10 on the Horizon (lol), they will single-handedly save the Switch 2 from being a Wii U-level disaster. I mean, unless they're going to charge $70 per version of Gen 10, since they're charging $70 for Z-A - or even worse, $80 per version! Sure, it'll sell millions of copies each, but good will is going to burn like nothing else!

It's sold out everywhere. What more are they supposed to do?

I mean, yes, it's a launch console, they've all sold out in preorders for however many decades it's been since gaming entered the mainstream - which is why I'm talking about long-term strategy, and not launch strategy!

Nintendo can release a product, it will sell millions, it will sell out, and consumer trust will simultaneously drop because of both pricing concerns, and scalper concerns. Both of these can be true at the same time, but we only know the next few months of what's coming. If consumers are willing to pay for $80 games after first-weeks' release sales? Then Nintendo was right all along! But I'm willing to place my bets that people will soon be priced out of modern gaming, outside of things like the infinite money printing machine that is Pokémon.

Do I have solutions? Absolutely not, I'm just the peanut gallery! Other than the obvious "reduce prices", but we have yet to see if Nintendo is willing to budge on that, since they said that the current prices are pre-tariff!

Alternatively, if they delay Gen 10 by a year it we might be able to travel in more than 1 city. Maybe they'll actually be able to optimize the game like they were planning to in the SV beta. But between the SV beta and release they dropped all plans that would've delayed the game (like Optimization!) to just release the game.

Pokemon? Delaying their game a year for optimization? Fucking lol. Why bother when Pokemon fans will buy whatever shit they release anyway.

Even if they did, seems pretty likely they went all in on making this game solely be about Lumiose City. Maybe they could add some catacombs like Paris.

My main gripe is that The Pokemon Company can and will fulfill that one greentext where they keep removing core features because "I doesn't matter that X is gone, you can still play Pokemon!"
>The Sales figures for ZA say that people loved being locked to 1 city! Quick, do it again for Gen10!
>The sales figures on that last spinoff Legends game before Gen11 determined that people hate the most basic RPG Battling gameplay! Quick, do it again!

I have no fucking clue what's up with Nintendo's retarded pricing but I will note not everyone is paying that price most of the "switch 2" versions are games you can upgrade into which prices them more like DLC then fully new games. (most obvious in the case of Kirby and the Forgotten Land which is throwing the star crossed lands DLC into the upgrade package.

again this whole situation is retarded especially since outside of the Kirby example I listed were not sure what we are actually paying for are the other games also throwing in additional content? if so that takes much of the sting out of it (Breath and Tears seem to be a 15$ hike and i can only assume come with the DLC stuff like the Hyrule bike if so that's actually paying less i think) and the Super Mario Jamboree is coming with jamboree TV whatever that is.

Also fuck off John you do this to take potshots at Nintendo exaggerate your bullshit then run away go manwhore for a new Oshi :smugpipi:

Yes! I don't think I could make myself any clearer!

When Nintendo stops doing Nintendo things, I will stop taking pot shots at them, or it will be a slippery slope to game prices increasing more and more!

No matter how much I love Pokémon, I'm still going to complain about it costing an arm and a leg!

Regardless of the pricing, Switch 2 carts are now essentially just hardware download codes compared to most switch releases. You're not even paying for flash storage space with those. Wanna own a copy of the media? Want to use this console after they inevitably pull the essential online servers? Big N say fuck you!

When I saw Nintendo being super litigious about switch EMU and cart dumps, I suspected it was because whatever new console was basically a hardware refresh and would be vulnerable to same vectors. Lo and behold, here we are. Right now Nintendo's on their eating glue phase of the "Idiocy → Profit → Idiocy" cycle they go through, but I dunno how they're gonna finagle their way outta this one.

just to be clear that last bit was more of a joke hence the manwhore and smugpippa.

That being said yeah id rather opt into DLC too if these really are just them combining all the DLC and updating it a bit for the switch 2.

double post but fuck it. Unless nintendo actually just sells all their data off and wipes it manually they have been taking steps to tie your games to your nintendo account so you can easily redownload them at a later date presumably this is for futureproofing but we will see how future proof it actually is.

Assuming nintendo continues to do Emulator work I could see them just letting you play switch 1 games on the switch 45.

Yeah, that's right. They do link the games to your account, each cart has a unique ID. They also use that to ban accounts running carts that have been dumped. So now every secondhand Switch cart is a potential landmine for a permaban.

Good choice, but post the real one:

My entry would have to be the original Starfox map menu and mission select:

I returned my copy of SF64 once I heard its soundtrack was nothing but bleeps and bloops, no orchestra.

I have little excitement for, well, any upcoming games (I hate the past fifteen years so much), but I'm slightly curious here.

This could be a good test to the pendulum. I could see the swing going and this Bond game is a throwback to the 1950s/60s Bond, with all the societal aspects. If so, it would be interesting.

Well this is a nice surprise. They teased the game ages ago and then went dark for so long prior to this that I was starting to think that IO might have actually canned it, but I guess not.

If I remember correctly, IO wants to make a trilogy of Bond games, similar to their recent Hitman trilogy. So if this one plays well and has decent sales, there should be a couple more on the way sometime in the next few years. I hope they don't fuck it up, and I think their experience working on Hitman should help them produce something worth playing.

Hitman esk gameplay with the movies version of bond and from the silhouette looking like @Brosnan Pierce Brosnan would be amazing.

Give us toys like the Batclaw from Arkham or Windblast from Dishonored make them some silly gadgets give us weird interactions like C4 in the Pie and let us have a grand ole time.

Always online...
The fact they haven't walked that shit back for HITMAN World of Assassination is telling.
