You assume that they're trying to compete against actual caffeine supplements and/or pre-workouts. Nah. They're competing against Coke and Pepsi and other such soda drink brands (you could include Monster and Red Bull in that). The big evidence of this is twofold: one -- they are aggressive about offering caffeine-free options of every single flavor, unlike the other gamer-brand drink powder brands (Rogue, GFuel, etc). Two -- if looked at as a supplement their micronutrient formula avoids including stuff I don't know the names of but I'll collectively call "muscle stuff" and instead includes "brain stuff".

In your arena, yeah they're expensive as shit.

Against Big Soda? They're at punching weight with the price, and they can say "We're not loaded with sugar that'll give you diabetes! We also have vitamins and shit!" as a plus.
  • Gamersupps Meme Powder
    • $40 per tub
    • Approx 100 scoops of powder per tub
    • Suggested ratio of water to scoop is 8oz (I use 16oz but fuck it I'm not trying to CHEAT)
    • 0.40 USD per 8oz of beverage (0.20 if you do like I do and use 16oz water)
  • Coca-Cola
    • Using Bulk Pack of 8oz cans (30 cans) to reference
      • 35 USD per 30x8oz (Walmart Dot Com) = 1.16 USD per 8oz
    • Using 2L Bottle as reference:
      • 3.80 USD per 2L bottle (local grocery store) = 0.45 USD per 8oz
    • Using 12pack x 12oz cans as reference
      • 11 USD per 12x12oz (local grocery store) = 0.61 USD per 8oz
In complete fairness, I didn't factor in the price of water for the powder mixes, but I'm chalking that as negligible because your tap water price is up to your city, and it'd be unusual for 8oz to cost more than 0.0008 USD (yes, 8 hundredths of a penny).
The price comparisons you made are not correct. You use some massively inflated price for small form factor cans from Walmart then pretty high prices from whatever your chosen local grocery store was. Here's the actual math using Walmart in-store prices for the whole comparison:

I am using the Walmart store located at 1530 Walmart Dr, Lebanon, OH 45036. Ohio seems like a fairly good midpoint for cost of living in the United States. Additionally, True & Honest™ TVA fans would know that Lebanon, Ohio has a mythical status here due to an individual who will not be named at this time.

Coca-Cola
Coke.PNG
  • 12 pack of cans @ 12oz each = $0.052/oz * 8oz = $0.42 per 8oz
  • 1 2L bottle @ 67.6oz each = $0.041/oz * 8oz = $0.33 per 8oz
Sam's Cola
SamsCola.PNG
  • 12 pack of cans @ 12oz each = $0.034/oz * 8oz = $0.27 per 8oz
  • 1 2L bottle @ 67.6oz each = $0.018/oz * 8oz = $0.14 per 8oz
These prices aren't even the cheapest you can get as wholesale stores like Costco and Sam's Club will often have name brands cheaper than any Walmart would. I don't really see how anyone could come to the conclusion that Gamersupps is price competitive with soda.

You do make good points, but I'm a little salty you're saying my prices are "incorrect".

I'll admit to saying I live in an area of the U.S. where the cost of living is a little high, but those are genuine prices I would pay if I wanted a 2L of Coca Cola or a 12 pack of 12oz cans. I used online walmart for the 8oz cans because my spot doesn't have them.

I'll also say that it does say a lot that to beat the meme powder on price you need to:
  • Use the manufacturers suggested powder/water ratio, since again, I use half that
  • EDIT: NOT use a discount code for your tub of powder
  • Live in a...I'll suppose average or low?...cost of living area.
  • Buy only 2L bottles
for a seven cent cheaper drink, in my book that price is still competitive. OR, you buy store brand, OR you use a Membership Store, the first of which I'll respond with saying that the prices are competitive with Brand Name. If Market Pantry, or Sam's Choice, or Big K, came along with a powder, you'd probably see a similar price competition. The second, the math gets complicated with the membership prices since that's how those prices are able to get so low.

This is also comparing a drink powder that is sugar free and at least has electrolytes against high fructose corn syrup water with phosphoric acid for extra tooth rot and a lot of empty calories.

I try not to bring that up because there's zero sugar cokes now for pretty much all the big brands.

Some people's rationales behind bagging gamersupps or claiming it's too expensive feels really illogical.

One canister of Gamersupps gives you 100 serves and is $40 USD. Let's say you add $30 postage to that. $70 for 100 serves is 70c per serve. Close enough for our purposes.

Now, I don't think Gamersupps is competing with battery-acid tier softdrink or caffeine pills or whatever other bullshit other people are coming up with in this thread. It's intended as more of a gourmet drink, I think, because you're buying it for a distinct taste that you'll struggle to find in other drinks. I think it stacks up a lot better with that comparison. I've bought gourmet softdrinks (which were really, really good) that cost several bucks for a 375mL bottle (about 12 ounces), for example. You can get some really nice gourmet cordials that are at a similar price point per serve in comparison to Gamersupps, if not a little more expensive. And a twelve-pack of coke is probably the cheapest drink of this style and still comes to about $0.62 per can (a bit cheaper if you buy by the bottle).

I don't know what any gamersupps drinks are like, in terms of taste, but it does have flavours that are going to be hard to find elsewhere, the tastes must at least be okay if there are a bunch of copycat businesses about, and the price point is somewhere in between what other gourmet drinks are costing. If you're going to waste your money on junk food drinks, I think you could do worse.

The way drinking water is contaminated the water may be more likely to turn you gay.

Yes but even those zero-sugar ones still have all the same other crap in them.

That depends on where you're shipping it to, I checked and in the USA it shows $10 shipping + $5 tax. I'm a bit surprised there is no free-shipping threshold. Anyhow you're correct that people need to look at the per dose price and assume that each scoop is for a 20 oz bottle of water which does end up making it economical compared to soda when compared per ounce.

Smart choice. Even though the Walmart at 1275 E 2nd St, Franklin, OH 45005 is a mile closer to a specific location, it is littered with numerous stoplights along the drive while you can take a country road with only a few stoplights for the entire trip to the Walmart in Lebanon.
