Man, do I love corporate plants and blatant nepotism. Really shows how totally 'innovative' she is at reacting to videos all day and bringing in sub-level IQ tourists into our hobby.
I mean, amongst the nominees, if you give it out based on popularity, it's Ironmouse. And if you give it out based on achievements this year, arguably it's still Ironmouse.
The only argument you could make that she shouldn't be the one to get it (amongst the nominees) is that she got it twice before. And that people here don't like her, but that's not really an argument.
Doki had an amazing year, but so did Ironmouse.
This is why the category (and the awards show itself) is a sham anyway. Any vtuber fan worth his/her salt would say that the year belongs to Suisei. The fact she isn't even nominated is Jethro-Tull-Winning-Over-Metallica levels of laughable and should be a huge indicator at the lack of depth and care that went into these nominations. It's basically a circle-jerk for their friends and orbiters.

That's a different discussion and it's why I included that qualifier.
The nominations were open though. They obviously circulate in the twitch circles first and foremost, but if someone's community mobilized enough they could get nominated.
Theoretically the VTuber awards should be better in that regard, but the nominations there are fucked in a different way (Dokibird nominated for FPS tuber in a year where she didn't FPS tube that much, Fauna nominated as ASMR tuber in a year where she didn't ASMR tube much, Breaking Dimensions concert nominated in a category where no concerts are allowed).
I think the problem with the vtuber awards is Filian draws a lot on Mythic to support the event, but those agency people know next to nothing about vtubing. So they see a lot of nominations for Breaking Dimensions and slap it in the category (maybe even mixing it up / combining it with ENRec) even though it breaks the category rules. I get she needs to draw on someone to make an event happen but this was obvious last year and it's even more obvious this year.

Now imagine Doki standing among these people. She'd stick out like a giant sore thumb.
