Idol got rid of its branch names
As the one Latino that puts news about the ES community here, this announcement really made some people mad, it had at least very mixed responses.
Two questions have arisen from this event.
— Will the decision of which language to focus on be left up to the talents or managers?
— If a new vtuber seeks to make content mostly in Spanish, would she be accepted into Idol? Or will she have to focus on English with the occasional Spanish stream?
Clearly, there is uncertainty about what will happen, if you cheek social media, Koa and Ruby both have gone mostly English with the occasional Spanish route and had admitted that they want “multicultural” communities, Taiga still does stream mostly in Spanish but plenty of tweets of her and the title of her stream are in English, weird. Lala is the curious case, she still has the IdolES moniker in her X account, and 99% of her content is in Spanish, mostly because she only knows basic English.
All eyes are on the bunny girl now, would Brave with this change tolerate a talent that will focus more of her content on a Spanish audience?? Time will tell.
This could also explain why Meica left idol, if these merge ends with ES talents having to focus more in the Anglosphere. Confusing times are up ahead.

As a side note, it is interesting that is announced in the same week that it was revealed that Meica was the second vtuber who most followers got in Twitch behind Ironmouse in November.
The fact she doesn't really cater to JP and EN make this more captivating.
There is an ongoing convo in the ES scene about how the vtubers are realizing the same thing the Spanish streamer realized a decade ago, that you can't expect the Anglosphere to create your space, you have to take it
Just like the Spanish streamers create their own events like
La Velada del Año you create events like the VT World Cup, with 3D vtubers concerts and everything.
Gringo make the Streamers Awards? Spics has the
Premios Esland with best vtuber category.
The Vtuber Awards is only catering to EN and JP? welp now the ES vtubers have their own awards.
I don't expect the ES scene to surpass JP or EN in terms of currency, but it is clear that the scene is growing and more importantly forming its own space, of that I have no doubts.
