She opened the floodgates with this one, there's no precedent for this level of success. I am really, really interested now to know what the fuck made she jump ship, it feels that Hololive just lost a huge piece of the brand and I can't wait for the next investor meeting.
I also didn't expect these numbers after she got half a million bucks off her graduation stream, was expecting at most 100k ccv just because of her legacy.
She is now proof of concept that you won't really lose much even as a top dog if you quit. Good luck to the company because if they're not stupid, this is a huge leverage for the talents to keep them on their toes. Juni playing WoW, against all odds

As a newfriend, i was legitimately somewhat concerned over that "not feeling well" post(as it went up before she changed the name), but apparently it's something she's done on previous Halloween

It hasn't even been a year but I already feel nostalgic for that era of Jelly. It's a great way of really utilizing the kayfabe for content. I missed this, but ixo-tan (formerly Rurumi Yumemi) made some Lia art:

Just getting finished watching Bae's 3D since I was away. Really good job by the Rat and congrats to her. I'm serious considering buying the T-shirt. That one feels like it needs to be stored away because while the meme will die, it'll never not be hilarious just remembering it.
I had a thought about the economics of where these performances are going. She had 12 songs with dancing. Each song has a different cost to do a cover associated with it. It's normally not very expensive to do a live performance cover of most songs, but let's assume it's 500USD each. Before absolutely anything has been prepared, that's 6k USD. There's dancers to multiple songs, I believe 8 or 9 had technical choreography, with all of the ones with backup dancers needing paid-for choreo + dancer time. (I'm assuming Bae designed the choreo for her solo ones.) So that's at least another 1k USD for each song that needed it + dancers. The 3D stage had to be specially made with variable lighting and that rendered rose. I don't know the associated costs around the music production itself, and while it's not super expensive it's still something for each one. In total, that's anywhere from 2K to 5k USD per song and there were 12 of them. Let's say that's 3k avg, for 36k USD before any of the capture & post-production.
In total, I'd assume the outlay before considering the in-built costs by Cover itself was around 65k USD as a starting point. Depending on how much was contracted outside of Cover and the time frames, this one 3D Live could easily have a base cost of 80k USD. If you add in the Cover Staff time, I could easily see the "price" for this being 150k USD.
I'm sure the Rat would appreciate you watching the Stream & Buying the merch, because, at the end of it all, the Merch is exactly how these are viable. Which has been true for Bands for decades. (The Internet, the place where the only way you make money is either being an Infrastructure company or you sell T-Shirts.)
Suisei Lives probably have a starting cost of 150k USD. And Miko's huge production probably had a starting point cost of 250k, which is why it had a paid-for stream approach. The ticket price costs probably barely covered the venue space costs.
Despite how good she seems to look I wouldn't pay for a membership unless it was a hardcore onlyfans. I'm not paying a sub just to ogle some fully clothed woman I can't understand when I can do that for free elsewhere.
No? Hololive is gonna fucking DIE tomorrow when all of the talents stage a rebellion to free themselves from the evil nip bureaucrat overlords! And then vtubing will be FREE and all of the vtubers will live happily ever after as indies and nothing wrong or EVIL will ever happen again!
...
But let's allow people to have their fun, the grudgeposting in a few months is gonna be delectable
You dont understand, Code Miko could do this from her gooncave since 2018. She just didnt subscribe to the yucky idol culture and dancing isnt even impressive, holochud
I was trying to figure out who the fuck Alice was for several minutes until I read the @. I thought maybe Phase had debuted a new gen in the few days I haven't been paying attention and one of them was already taking a break or some shit. I look forward to whatever schizo bit she has planned.

Gonna quote what Aqua herself said about the company:
If she wanted to get more popular, make more money and do even more events and stuff like that, then she fully believes Holo would be the best environment to do it in. The support system in there is great enough that she could still do things like that 6 years into her career.
It's not as simple as "Number go high, she's an immediate success for life." I feel like we've talked about this a ton already but Holo offers so much as a company. The sponsors, the connections with artists/producers/musicians, the 3D tech, the ability to go on stage, the protection that management offers, the branding itself. For the Holo girls that are trying to be the best idols they can be, this stuff is incredibly necessary for them and not something they'd just throw away on a whim. Even the girls like Fauna and Luna who don't care much about the idol stuff and wanna chill, they understand how important all of it is to their overall success.
So I doubt Sakuna's debut can be something to "leverage" against the company or whatever. It's ultimately about how much you're willing to deal with nip corpo autism for the sake of your goals. Aqua moved on cause after 6 years, she just wanted to take it easy and do her own thing. Seems to be the same for Ame as well. It's good to see that numbers were high, but I'm fairly certain neither of them cared that much and are more focused on what they wanna do for the future.
I have never, in my whole life, been recommended a good anime.
Was this a contributing factor to me declaring all anime trash? Not really.
I just feel Lia's point of view on this one.

Even if her intent is to take it easy, people flocking around her while she's doing less is still a fact. It sounds like I'm being a Holo anti or whatever but the fact still stands that she got noombas while coasting, and no I don't believe she's gonna beat her own average CCV as Aqua, but she also doesn't need to forfeit 50% of her revenue to the company, so it balances it out.
If she so desire to have MVs, studio events or even a 3D Live, she got enough support and the network to commission a team and get them done while "having less", like Peroroncino (Akari). Granted, we don't know her living expenses, but I don't believe someone who can't even talk in public properly would live in luxury.
I have never, in my whole life, been recommended a good anime.
