She feels like she's been slowly letting go of kayfabe of "le innocent seiso birb" since her return.
And, surprise-surprise(not really), it actually made her more entertaining.
She's still super-pon but that i actually doubt is kayfabe.
You couldn't convince anyone that any of these girls are anything but pon. Or have better geospatial awareness than an orange.

I feel like a junkie that's been sober for years and the suddenly gets thrown headfirst into a pile of crack cocaine and meth. Holy SHIT, I MISSED COSPLAYER DRAMA. :chaos:

I doubt they're mentally stable at all, but the money's good. And hey, as long as they don't bring the mood down AT the con, fuck it, they just have to look hot and play dress-up.

Now is there a list of these cosplayers? For archival purposes.
Some anon in /pcg/ made a compilation based on the announcement

Sakana has kept Yuri's merch on hand for when they finally manage to renegotiate her contract.
We find out in 2035 that Yuri wasnt actually legally terminated but since all her vods were deleted no one knew, especially her and Sakana

So, aside from Rie, which of the girls are most likely to develop a complex over their cosplayer being more attractive than they are irl?
Dizzy for sure, but that's too easy to guess.

Even including Rie it has to be Clara, assuming her cosplayer has an ass.

There's a big chance we might get a catfight on the phase booth at offkai. I take back my comments on the cosplay matter. My nigga fishman works in mysterious ways :whatastory:

Pippa for sure.

Also, is that fucking Rance?

A

While amusing, I find this whole "You saying I'm not a fan? Look at all my merch!" thing rather annoying. They very well could be an actual passionate fan of the medium, but they also could just be another person using a fandom in place of a personality.

I've seen plenty who showcase memorabilia but don't actually care, and instead are simply posers utilizing the scene for personal gain - be it financial or ego.

You guys talking about the possibility of Yuri returning and even if it might be a joke i think there are some reasons for fishman to do it, but i guess lets first put some things in "favor" of Yuri returning:
- Both Pippa and Sleepy seem to be in good terms with Yuri.
- Yuri had her TARD moment before Phase started getting more popular which was later half of 2023, one could say it was cause she felt "stuck" and not seeing growth or reasons related to income, this things having less chance to occur if she was in the current 2025 Phase.
Now for reasons "against" Yuri returning:
- What message does it sends to all the talents if one terminated girl can comeback, the classic, "you let her get away with it, why can't i?" dilemma which would not only affect the talents but the fans too, basically from that point onwards it would be next to impossible to reasonable terminate anyone.
- There are 3 girls that have spoken against Yuri: Panko, Lumi, Tenma (im not soo sure about Tenma); and recently on her Summer game fest stream Tenma when asked if a graduated talent can comeback she said no, and didnt really respond to people mentioning Saya which is an affiliated talent that still appears in some merch and even on the recent Pippa stream as a little drawing.

Finally what would be the biggest W of bringing Yuri back?
Phase gets rid of one of their biggest stigmas, the well known "YOU STOLE YURI IP".
Aside from hidden lore from year 1 and merch issues, the only "black company" moment Phase had was Yuri termination and even after Sakana explained the process of a talent leaving you will sometimes still see people saying that Fishman stole Yuri IP, specially when a potential vtuber could invade some bad apples mention the "IP ownership" as a big reason to not join Phase (and i guess some of you have saw Shondo discord screencap mentioning it too).
There is also the positive PR implications to the wider vtubing audience, the "wow Phase is soo good they even forgave a terminated talent".
At the end of the day i think that decision has to be a collective effort between all members of Phase to approve her return and i guess, everyone deserves a second chance:smugpipi:

pippa knows she ain't a looker so I don't think it applies. Rie, uruka and dizzy will for sure have some seething.

Also I love how things have not changed since the days of the first e-girls, a room filled with merch means dick if you're just pretending to like it. That's why they get so assmad when people start asking them questions about things and simps run defense for them. At best like pippa said most of these are just fans by clips. I wouldn't expect them to know shit since they're glorified booth babes but don't try to sell me that you're die hard fan man, come on now.

Precise issue I have. Booth babes were at least not expected to be fans of - much less know anything about - whatever it is they were hawking. They were hired models, and that was that. No presumption of anything more.

The difficult part for any of these cosplayers who are actual fans is that they're going against the grain in a historical manner. In times past, when any niche medium was truly looked at as niche (so basically no one outside it paid any attention), an attractive woman being into it was a rarity. Hell, women themselves were a rarity, but someone attractive enough to be a model was degrees further rare.

Of the slim amount of actual female fans in a fandom, most were exactly the type of nerds you'd expect. Not to say they were ugly, but they're not winning a pageant any time soon. When conventions were held, "cosplay" was mostly people just dressing up like it was Halloween. Only a slim amount would actually put serious effort into cosplaying a character, and a slim amount of that could pull it off.

Now we got these niche hobbies in the mainstream, with a whole bunch of cosplayers that are there for the attention, not the passion. How many of the model-esque ones are actual fans? A fraction.

Sucks to be the pretty ones that are actually fans. Must be like being an upstanding, rational black man in a ghetto.

Yuri is gone and irrelevant except as a "do you remember" Phase Connect callback, and I don't see the point of bringing her back. She was the only person at Phase who couldn't come to an agreement with her new contract when everyone else manages to do it without issue. She spent a lot of her time at Phase not streaming, and insisted on completely rebranding in the middle of her time there. You can't even blame any of her issues on Phase Connect, because she also spends extended periods not streaming and has rebranded for no discernible reason while not under Phase Connect's management.

Yuri's dead and buried, and I don't see how everyone involved, including Yuri, isn't better off with her not in Phase Connect. If you want to watch her, you know where to find her.
