It's vicarious living through pain of others. It's "Ghoulish" behavior of the most base type. The had a pretty long recovery from an injury and encountered it a couple of times. You aren't prepared for how unnerving it can be. They aren't trying to help, they want to try to feel emotions through you. I think drugs has a LOT to do with it, because a bunch of their emotional synapses are just burned out.
