I however, have read the books. GRR Martin is a shock-value hack, nowhere on the level of Robert Jordan, let alone Tolkien. He wishes he were though.

The funny thing is, the world and history he establishes is really fucking interesting. Weird factions and cultures, lost civilizations, genuinely interesting concepts for magic, entire regions of his world he describes in autistic detail, only for the main plot to just be "The Holy Roman Empire Infighting, But Everyone Is Some Kind of Furry or Scalie". And all of that interesting worldbuilding gets relegated to the Azor Ahai shit and Arya's Braavos arcs which might not even go anywhere if George decides he wants another le epic twist.

I don't think their applications stretch to the millions. Probably maybe a 100 per week that filled out the text input properly. Though it doesn't surprise me that the indie that made the post only got 1 interview. It was after doing a MV, so she showed that she can sing & put a project together.

I do think they reach millions, how many indies do you know of. And we even has had confirmation that even corpo vtubers and voice actors/non-vtubers apply to hololive.
Also hololive round 1 is actually open knowledge. You submit a video, kinda like a mini youtube. If the video is interesting then they proceed with interview. If the video is boring as fuck they click away and move on. It isnt surprising she only got interviewed once. As the previous attempt she even acknowledge they were cringe.

The 7th attempt being passed may due to they already having found nerissa and liz who are a million times better singers and they arent interested at MVs and value other qualities

Dont understand your 2nd point about the US. Hololive dont narrow down their criteria because they are looking for variety. Not programmers who will do a very specific coding work or lawyers who practices a specific field. It's in holo best interest to have things being vague so that they have more type of people/personality to pick from

My second point is that the HoloEN applicants are going to be heavily affected by the NA resume/job hiring culture of job postings regularly being completely disassociated from the actual job that a company wants filled. It's simply part of the cultural zeitgeist for the 15-35 age sets right now. It's a whole thing and terrible, but anyone from NA that's applying is probably going to overthink what Cover is asking for in their first video/application. The indie that posted seemed to have that issue, and I imagine that comes up a lot for their EN recruiting. I don't have a read on the JP side of recruiting or where their hiring culture is right now to say much of anything.

What Cover wants is interesting Streamers and you need to present to them that you're interesting, by whatever means you have at your disposal.

We know Holo has a written/video stage from which they remove all of the underaged/unusable/trash entrants which probably leaves them at less than a thousand, then they move to the first round of auditions which is done in vc with an anonymous member of the audition staff and that narrows down their options to probably like 30 at most and then some talents have spoken of a second audition round but this time they get interviewed by like 5 people, which includes the branch manager and iirc some talents even said Yagoo was in their call.

After that we don't know if there are any other rounds or factors but I imagine the second interview is enough for them to pick their favorites and move on to pre-debut prep.
