Does anyone think it's not coincidental that the new invaders were / are mainly Twitch streamers? It doesn't divide their YouTube audience as much and pulls more people into the brand passively than actively (e.g. funding VTuber awards).

Corpos owning IP is borderline useless now. You can't really do anything with it if the talent leaves. Only purpose it serves is as leverage to keep them around, but if it comes to the point where you need that, your business relationship is unsalvageable anyways.

I disagree. Fully owning the IP makes day-to-day business much more convenient because there's less bureaucracy involved, plus it's a legal security if a talent goes rogue. Even just having leverage over the talent is a good idea to make sure they get some kind of return on the initial investment; if the corpo drops a fuckton of cash on new models, fancy redebut gimmicks, and marketing for the talent to fuck off the minute their contract's up there's a good chance they won't have broke even on them yet.

Funny thing with Sleepy's design is the whole package works so well that I don't find the huge knockers at all distracting like they are on Dizzy. Similarly to Ember her face and personality manage to keep me entranced much of the time to where I sometimes forget that they're so big.

I never really got why talents got excited about certain artists being their vtuber mama or especially seeking specific artists out, but Sleepy's artmama, Ayamy, is really top-tier and deserves the hype. Between Yozora Mel, Maid Mint and Sleepy, that woman really knows how to design an amazing, cohesive and aesthetically-balanced character.

This conflicts with what was found by YouTube when they were giving large contracts to Twitch streamers to switch to streaming on YouTube. Same with Mixer, Facebook etc. There are now no longer large contracts to be had as Twitch has massive market share and those on Twitch don't switch. The inverse is true in the V-Tubing niche, less so for the Western audience but the audiences are different and tend to conflict re: idol culture and I don't see Mr. Fish "I want my sesio idol corp and my own Marine" to chase that dragon where others have failed. I think it's almost all coincidence.

Fishman has made some comments to a similar point. Basically if you want a company to invest in you, they have to have some guarantees that their investment will pay off. If you can fuck off at any moment, you are a crazy high risk investment for the company they will naturally treat spending money on you like it.

Considering they had Gen4 auditions open since October, i think the more likely scenario is that we'll get a 6-person gen, which IMO would also be a mistake, because that's too many people in one go.

Still, nothing's probably happening on that front until at the very least end of the year, fish knows better than to ACCELERATE.
