Off Global Cooldown. Abilities that are on GCD all go on a 2.5 second cooldown when one is used to pace input so you don't just spam out all your buttons at once. oGCD don't go on cooldown when GCD abilities are used and have their own distinct cooldown periods. Typical damage rotations for your button inputs will weave various oGCD in between GCD abilities where the combo might benefit from them, like Dragoon getting an oGCD ability that boosts the next Weaponskill type attack to deal guaranteed critical damage being the optimal use case in using it before their highest potency attack in their combo so they hit the Big Number.

Non-sweaty mmo lord explanation:
Red mage is a class in ffxiv that can use both magic attack and melee attack (they also heals and resurrect). They are the gender queer class in FFXIV, but very high demand in early/newbies FFXIV raids since they have a ehem noble phantasm of resurrecting the entire party, which even the dedicated healers don't have.

The class dual wield a sword and a staff. Their combo involving launching verbal insult at the boss, then charge at the boss, whack the boss a few time with their staff, then jumping backward to a safe distance so they can cast magic with their sword.

This specific boss in FFXIV destroy the arena as the fight progress. If you didn't pay attention and press the "social distance" skill, you ended up jumping out of bound and die. It's not an issue for 99% of bosses in the game.

All her genmates say she drives terribly at the best of times, and she's doing an extremely long commute every day (ish) after extremely long shifts. It was a matter of when not if.

Don't forget that she's probably built up a ton of fatigue which makes everything worse.

Thanks for the explanation. Also, thanks for reminding me why I don't play these sort of games. It's strange that these sort of games evolved from tabletop D&D, or even that this game evolved from the original Final Fantasy on the NES.

Thanks for the explanation. Also, thanks for reminding me why I don't play these sort of games. It's strange that these sort of games evolved from tabletop D&D, or even that this game evolved from the original Final Fantasy on the NES.

I think of it more of intentional needs to diverge from the D&D formula to make a game more playable for a large audience of simultaneous players. There's nothing really wrong with the mechanical aspects of a TTRPG but it doesn't mesh well with the sort of gameplay that feeds the MMO loop.

As far as XIV is concerned though, a significant amount of the draw and appeal of the game is based around how hard it Member Berries all the rest of the FF series in different ways either in references or set piece fights that calls back to previous titles. The entire post-release storyline additions to the last expansion is heavily drawn from FFIV, and current expansion Dawntrail looks like it's also pulling a lot from FFIX while the raid series is a direct reference to FFXI. This is to say nothing about all the other little references throughout the rest of the game that are either just small nods, thematic similarities, particular enemies, etc.

You should try it. They have a pretty generous free trial, and it's not like the game is hard. They removed all the difficulty because the game sells better to retards if there's no need to think or learn.

If someone 'can't' be there for someone they care about I'd likely suspect they just don't want to. Whatever happened, her dad was there to help it would seem since she was using his phone, I can't really imagine a scenario where a boyfriend wouldn't similarly be able to help other than the whole 'the boyfriend is the reason', which, I mean, damn bud, choose better next time.
