I know fuck all about ghost cities but hasn't it been proven that practially all of their glamour is smoke and mirrors because they like to cheap out on shit and a lot of their buildings and projects are basically held together with hopes and prayers there's a reason they call them tofu-dreg projects over there. Hell just a month ago one of their government buildings collapsed with 27 dead and 67 missing as of now
The ghost cities came from rich people buying them to store money, because inflation is a thing and real estate & gold usually outdo keeping money in the bank
The westerner also buy stocks but it's not common practice in asia. Gold are also hard to purchase. So real estate is #1 in China. This happens in the US also btw. Not to the scale of ghost city, but most skyscrapers in US/EU doesn't have any people living in it despite almost every room already been purchased. Billionairs/Millionaires bought them skyscraper housing as a way of storing their wealth.
If you believe the propaganda, these houses will lose all value in "18 days" and all chinese citizens will go bankrupt as all of them go into debt in order to fund the purchase of these properties. Meanwhile it's mostly absolute morons who do and usually those ghost cities are people's 3rd, or 4th property purchase. They can afford to lose one of them. They will cry river about it because well, it's still losing money at the end of the day and losing money sucks. But the people buying houses in ghost cities are far more well off than most americans who can't afford a single one, much less a FOURTH home. Those people's tear doesnt deserve any sympathy.
I hope it crashed, but the people owning them will just shrug it off because they are so rich. And just like Tesla stocks, the entire market is speculative and based on nothing happening in real life. So noone care if they are real ghost cities.
Btw that government building is Thailand's. They absolutely got scammed by the Chinese.

If everything it did sucked, you'd expect more than one collapsed building.
For comparison, the last mass casualty collapse in the United States was in 2021. This does, of course, skip various other collapses that avoided mass casualties since then.

There has been way more than one collapsed building that if you are actually interested in can look up it was just the most recent example that popped up that I used because of the size and scope of what they were planning and the claim isn't that China sucks at things it's that they're greedy cheap bastards that cut corners even if people will die

Yes buildings are collapsing in China. But they also has millions of building for billions of people. 1000 or 2000 building falling off won't ruin their entire economy. Yes some of their building a cheap dogshit. But not ALL of their building are cheap dogshit.

by cheap dogshit I mean they spent ~~1 million on a ~~60 million$ budget building, buying cheap dogshit steel and cheap dogshit cement, cheap dogshit construction material, cheap dogshit worker. The other 59 millions went to the pockets of the CEO.
The material being cheap dogshit is why building collapses.
There are plenty of that in China yes, but not enough to bankrupt the entire economy.

Unironically though like, I knew most of this already. What does any of this have to do with "you can't trust them when they say Chinese buildings are made of paper"?

I didn't even dispute the fact that those buildings don't exist. I said thousands of them are. But they don't mean much in the grand scheme of thing.
The main reason I bought up the cult is that they are the ones pushing the ideas that every building in China are like that and if you consume their media it will look like thousands of building collapsing everyday. Meanwhile if you look at their footage they have around 10 buildings at best, across several different years.
They are very obviously boosted too. I've seen some have 100k views even though they're only an hour old. It also appears the videos have something applied to them that makes them be associated to a lot of different types of content for some reason, anything tangentially related to "politics" or "war stuff" will get these recommended.
