It depends a lot. There's like over 10k different import classifications things can fall under and there's exclusions and the like. There was a minimum cost exclusion that may or may not apply.
The real problem is we assumed the CCP and Xi were going to be stupid about this, and, for now, they are being stupid about it. The problem, right now, is no one can give you a timeline for when they'll be lower. It could be next week or next year. The real problem with dealing with the Chinese culture is that they don't understand the concept of "Mutually Beneficial" relationships. It's either Win or Lose and it's a damn pain in the ass to deal with. In this case, Xi is going to have to capitulate, mostly because China imports like 100B USD of Food. We're complaining about merch from Cover, but China basically just doubled the price of Chicken Thighs and Pork in their domestic market.
If you can find a routing service, you might be able to get it cheaper, but I don't have any direct suggestion at the moment.
>Trump randomly add 140% taxes on chinese good
>Why are CCP being so stupid about it
>Trump's lead financial official: We haven't talked to any Chinese official since April 7th
>Why hasn't Xi come crawling, begging Trump to lift the tariff. Chinese culture, dumb CCP.
No they are not being stupid, trump arbitrarily added some tax on them (and the rest of the world) and then decided to cut communication themselves. You now put the blame on the CCP for reasons? This is basically Nijisanji terminating Selen and then people come out saying Selen should have crawled back crying, begging them to give her job back. Why is she being stupid and not doing it. Must be her chinese blood and culture.
Why do you think China import food from the US, do you think their entire meals consist of nothing but corns and seeds?
Those food are for feeding livestock. Pigs don't discriminate where or which type of food they get. China used to import corns from US mainly because
some US president begged a Chinese President before Xi's time to buy them (in a more civilized world, we used to call this "comprehensive trade agreements"). US isn't the only food exporter in the world nor do they have to feed their pigs corn, they can feed them anything. China also have been planting farms/investing in agriculture for decades in Africa & Brazil because they knew US gonna shoot themself in the foot sooner or later. I don't think you need to worry about them lacking food for their chickens/pigs due tariffs.
Chicken thighs import from US to China was banned since Biden under some HIPAC thing. The main chicken import from the US are chicken feet, those are used for snacks and not considered essential food. Or other parts like chicken innards/undesirable parts goes to ... once again, feeding livestocks. No,
chinese citizen are not consuming "Chicken Thighs from US at twice the price", stop listening to propaganda.
Btw chicken feet in china are sold at like 10 cent a piece? I don't think they care if the price double, it's still dirt cheap.
