Once they reach adolescence they are shunned for wanting male-dominant spaces where their sense of humour is appreciated rather than condemned, and their first time getting rejected by a girl they like because they asked her out awkwardly over text is no longer a learning experience, but a screencap to accuse them being a creep that will follow them into their adult life.

Men are shamed for acting on any natural male instinct throughout almost every facet of their lives, so no shit insecure teenage boys in particular are going to be enticed by the first voice they ever hear saying "hey kid, it's okay to play Halo with the boys and to think that girl in your science class is hot, you're doing fine".

I think the most disheartening part of it isn't so much the fact it's documented (we are the Archive Everything community after all, I'm not here to talk down to others for that), but more that nobody seems to treat it as a linear timeline. Actions from the past are treated the same as actions from the present - it's no wonder so many people have complexes now when no matter how much they try to better themselves one way or another or distance themselves from a bad crowd they got mixed up in when they were younger, it'll just take one "not a good look" chatlog from when they were 19 resurfacing and they're ruined.

I don't follow the Tates, nor do I have opinions on them, but I also don't trust a lot of the people telling me the bad things they've allegedly done either. Journalists and news sources have knowingly and deliberately lied and withheld information about so many other things, I don't know if I can suddenly take them at their word when it comes to claims about the Tate brothers.

It really sucks that so much of the information we get about the world comes from such untrustworthy, highly-partisan sources.
