More like elves and men have existed since the very early conceptual stages and dwarves kinda came in later and only became what they are today with the hobbit (which was meant to just be a children's book one-off) so they didn't get the same treatment or depth as the other two and are kind of in the same boat as the orcs except Tolkien did try to flesh them out later. I do wish Tolkien had lived long enough to flesh out Khuzdul instead of the bare handful of random words we got.

In Tolkien's lore every cardinal direction has a kind of morality associated with it. The west is always been a symbol for good, because that's the direction in which aman (heaven) is located. Honestly, being a cuck is horrible but it's not a "I should kill myself" situation, IMHO, considering what he built as a black actor starting in the early 90s, and god knows what shit he had to tolerate. I'd believe it, at least the English translations.

Just remember that most English copies out there today are inaccurate unauthorised translations that add forewords criticising the author to negatively colour your impression of him before you start reading, and are localised with harsher language in an attempt to make him look worse (the Manheim version literally adds n-bombs that Hitler himself didn't use).
