Eh, I'd argue that SAO more popularized the Web Novel>Light Novel/Manga>Anime pipeline. The real father of modern isekai is Familiar of Zero, which "inspired" a lot of the said popular web novels at the time (late 00s early 10s) that got picked up. From there it snowballed. Only contribution SAO...
The only country (region in this case) jokes I really roll my eyes over are ones about the American South, because, (1) it's the same two or three jokes, get new material, and (2) many of the people that make those jokes constantly virtue signal about how much of a progressive person they are.
