I hate to break it to you, but this is textbook streamer behavior. Sure, there are some streamers out there who are genuine with the whole 'really low self-esteem, can't believe people will give them money' bit. But not many. Others have seen how incredibly effective a tactic it is to buy into the whole 'bully the streamer with money!' kayfabe and cynically exploit it.
I'm not saying Ekko/Kilia is one of these people. But in general, as a rule of thumb, most streamers are putting on an act when they do this kind of thing. They will be encouraged to do it by their peers, and given tips on how to maximize its effectiveness. It's just business.
