MMOs are an absolutely travesty. Not one has lived up to the original promise, going back to the 90s. They're garbage games that are, at best, graphic chatrooms.
The MMO revolution and its consequences has been a disaster for the gaming scene.
Why? I never played GW2, but I did play GW1 and thought it was stupid people called it an MMO when it was a Diablo game with an animated hub instead of a generic lobby.
GW2 has a bunch of colorful shit/fashion and the base game's story has enough autism to draw a certain type in I miss Tybalt. It is also piss easy unless you play the expansions.
I'm torn on TF2. It was pretty darn good, but has the double problem of not being as good as QWTF and TFC, and also being one of the first multiplayer FPS games that followed the MMO formula of constantly changing the game, so you can't say "remember TF2" without specifying when.
