Ultimately the company just want to get more people playing the game. I doubt they pay residuals per code redemption so it's not costing them anything, and it's still having the intended marketing effect on the audience (play now and you get a bonus thing).

I don't play chinkslop so I have no idea if the story in this game in particular is worthwhile, but in general it just feels like typical ADHD zoomer impatience. She's probably content with VNs because it's functionally just like reading a book so it's compartmentalised as such, but if she wants to play a video game she wants to get to the action RIGHT NOW.
Some games do genuinely take too long getting to the point, but for the most part the characters, setting, and story really do complement the experience, and she's doing a disservice to her own enjoyment by not engaging with them. It's why I've stopped taking her video game opinions seriously for the most part, because it feels like part of her just doesn't want to enjoy playing games and would rather just find shit to complain about.
