Actually, gonna amend what I said now that Pippa mentions gacha. All kids in a situation should win if it's over random chance. Reward them later in the day if you have to. Life sucks, don't make it suck earlier than it has to by never letting them win anything. Letting them have little moments of joy doesn't mean you're raising them to be a spoiled brat.
It's when it's a skill issue that kids shouldn't all win, because that teaches a more valuable lesson than "the universe hates you because the rich child won and you might just barely get anything for Christmas this year because they held it a bit too long" or whatever bullshit idek.
Maybe it's an Australian thing. Would explain a lot.
