I was trying to read between the lines, but I'm not sure. Is it a legal/permissions/bureaucratic autism type thing, similar to how they aren't allowed to regularly use character variations due to 'brand recognition' of each individual talent (like the Korone dog and Moona child models), or is it a technical thing where the app only allows them to use their own models now and it's literally impossible to 'log in' as someone else's model.
My guess is that if the later is true it is because of the former.
AFAIK it's probably because a talent (lapuchan) fucked it all up for everyone because said talent (still lapuchan) showed somebody else's (botan) upcoming outfit, and Ollie or Kiara fucked it up by showing another talent's upcoming brush up expressions, so they made it so you can't load any other talent l2d in to the app.
They probably locked it out for security reasons firstly, and, secondly, because a lot of the members of the computer skills of Nene's beetles. They've had enough members that it's basically assured the company iPhone has either been lost or stolen at least once. Doing a silo of content is a really good idea from that perspective. From the brand side of things, contracts with original creators and just general PR would suggest its a bad idea. Though you also have to look at it from a Japanese legal perspective. If one JP member says something that could be defamatory with another JP member's character, who all involved is at fault? That's probably the key issue that was banging around the heads of the Cover office.
In general it's good practice to only provide workers with company assets on an as-and-when needed basis, just to reduce the chances of something getting shared somewhere it shouldn't. Nobody is going to have a complete list of which models/rigs/art assets etc. are public knowledge and which aren't committed to memory, so if it's possible for someone to load the wrong thing in by mistake while they're goofing around, you should probably expect it to happen eventually.
