Edit: She is kind of making it clearer, that her emo phase was not because she couldn't get a date, but more that all her friends got dates and left her behind and never really came back or kept up with her.

if she wants something like action "horror" resident evil revelations 1 and 2 have decent campaigns, fatal frame is pretty good too and it's more along the lines of horror.
Ehh her response to all zombie recommendations has been that zombies aren't scary.
that's why I'm saying "horror" it's mostly about managing your resources depending on the difficulty, so more along the lines of "I fucked up" like in outlast and most modern games horror just means jumpscares and chase sequences, so fatal frame may be the better choice.
