I distinctly recall watching the Dem primaries in 2020 and seeing Biden have obvious signs of dementia. Was then curious who they'd end up nominating, as he was obviously not going to win.

Imagine my surprise...

Trump fatigue was real, absolutely nobody ever went a day without making fun of him or fear-mongering since he got elected from news media to random non-politics Youtube channels, then the Chink virus and Saint Floyd riots happened so it probably swayed the undecided voters over to Biden.

There were also those incidents where ballots were thrown away but I doubt that made much of a difference overall.

They ran a ton of absolutely batshit crazy lunatics like Cory Booker and Julian Castro, sabotaged reasonable candidates that wouldn't tote the DNC party line like Andrew Yang and Tulsi Gabbard, and were left pretty much choosing between running Bernie (ha, good joke after 2016 thinking they'd run him), Elizabeth Warren (probably completely unelectable on a national scale), Bloomberg (Billionaire vs Billionaire would have been funny), and Biden (guys just watch CNN show these clips of how everyone liked him back during the Obama years! He's your friendly Uncle Joe! Don't pay attention to him hiding in his basement avoiding all media interaction, he's just mindful of COVID!). Clearly the media spin was strong enough considering Dems at large were still arguing he was mentally sound even after the 2024 debate with Trump until the NPCs got reprogrammed when Kamala was appointed.

If you paid any attention to the Dem primary in 2019/2020, beyond just being the appointed result he was the only one semi-capable of anything.

The deck was set to put Biden up, as Dems have to run a straight White Man as the head of the party for various factional reasons. (The racial factions turn each other off.) But the other Dems were surprisingly incompetent, even by their standards.

A man who is too sick to ask questions and just signs whatever's put in front of him so he can get back to his ice cream is the ideal Democrat candidate. It's obvious why the scales were tipped in his favour.
